Pope's Encyclical Leads To Recent Media Coverage of the Sisters' Ministries

In July, Net TV and The Tablet Newspaper featured coverage of the Sisters of St. Joseph Brentwood's ecological conservation efforts, in light of Pope Francis's encyclical on the environment. Katie Breidenbach, a correspondent for Net TV's daily news program "Currents," and News Director Ed Wilkinson visited Brentwood to see Sisters of St. Joseph tend to their organic, self-sustaining garden, along with their beehives, goats, chickens and rabbits. The Sisters discussed how a lack of environmental awareness harms the poor and shared their hope to inspire more conscious consumption in city dwellers and the next generation.

Sister Jeanne Ross Retires
Sister Jeanne Successfully Led Sacred Heart Academy For The Past 18 Years

Sister Jeanne Ross, CSJ will be going on a sabbatical and ending her term as President of Sacred Heart Academy effective July 31, 2015. It has always been her goal to make the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph alive and lived in the school.  As a alumna of Sacred Heart and as its leader for eighteen years, Sister Jeanne has observed faculty, students and staff do that in so many ways, showing respect, helping each other, tutoring those who are having difficulty with a subject and participating in after-school activities. Under Sister Jeanne's leadership, Sacred Heart has maintained a rigorous academic program and nurturing environment for high-achieving young women.   The recent campus expansion not only provides athletic teams and gym classes with the school's first ever track and field but enhances the beauty of the girls' environment with a true campus feel.  Students benefit each day from the new Guidance Complex, Science Research Center, and warm caring spirit that has always accompanied Sister Jeanne throughout the halls.  During her sabbatical,  Sister Jeanne will attend the Ministry to Ministers (MTM) Program in San Antonio, Texas for spiritual refreshment and theological renewal.
