Sit Down!
Battle of Wills
My brother and I were rolling over with laughter as we watched my niece try to get her 8-month old son to sit down. This little boy locked his legs and would not bend. As much effort as she exerted to get him to sit, he exerted the same amount not to. This power struggle went on for a few minutes. It was absolutely hilarious watching this young baby become totally inflexible as he resisted the instructions and actions of his mother to sit. Finally after several minutes of this battle of wills, she had to just lie him down. Needless to say, he was wailing.
Oftentimes that is what happens to us. We become totally inflexible. Just like that baby locked his legs and refused to bend, we do the same thing. God is trying to get us into a certain position and we fight against Him and lock up spiritually. Although it is all for our good, we want to do it our way.
In our inflexibility we prohibit God from operating in our best interest and often miss the opportunities God has for us. It becomes a battle of wills where we feel our way is superior to God's. Unfortunately, God will allow us to do what we want to do. This is His permissive will. His permissive will never entails all the blessings of His perfect will. Rooted in the permissive will of God is a tinge of disobedience. For some reason or another, we always feel we have to help God and He does not know what He is doing; and He definitely has no clue as to what is good for us.
Recently I had a conversation with a friend and she stated, "God allowed it." The operative word is "allowed." Allowed is not a word that exemplifies the perfect will of God. It is a word that exemplifies our unbelief and lack of trust in His perfect will. Yes, He will allow you to do the thing that you so desperately want to do, just like my nephew that you fight to do, but He does not have to bless it.
Know that if you insist on doing it your way, you will mess up things. Just ask Sarah. When you strive to do it your way, believe me you will create so much confusion that the backlash can be overwhelming. Just like my nephew he refused to sit and instead ended up lying down, we find ourselves in positions that we never thought we would be in and we wail just like he did.
We cry out to God, "Why me?" Why not you? You made the decision to do it your way. One thing for sure, God is not a bully. He is not going to make you do it.
Think about it, isn't it so much easier to just relinquish your will to God's will. You may not agree with it. You may not understand it. You may not even like it, but one thing for sure it is in God's perfect will where the blessings overflow.

SCRIPTURES
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? Isaiah 45:9 (KJV)
And the Lord said to Moses, I have been watching this people, and I see that they are a stiff-necked people. Ex 32:9 (BBE)
And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped. And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance. Ex 34:8-9 (KJV)
And not be like their fathers, a stiff-necked and uncontrolled generation; a generation whose heart was hard, whose spirit was not true to God. Psalms 78:8 (BBE)
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (KJV)
And let not your behaviour be like that of this world, but be changed and made new in mind, so that by experience you may have knowledge of the good and pleasing and complete purpose of God. Romans 12:2 (BBE)
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: Eph 1:11 (KJV)
For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Cor 12:8-9 (KJV)

PRAY
Father
I know that sometimes I fight against You and the will You have for me. In my finite wisdom I think that you don't know what you are doing, so I need to help you. Unfortunately, I find myself moving out of your perfect will into your permissive will. Although you may allow me to do something, doesn't mean it is the perfect will for my life. Bless me not to become so inflexible I miss all the blessings You have for me. I know in Your perfect will blessings abound and I will experience spiritual, abundance and wholeness.
Amen
