Fourth-century preacher John Chrysostom said, "This is the rule of most perfect Christianity, its most exact definition, its highest point, namely, the seeking of the common good. For nothing can so make a person an imitator of Christ as caring for his neighbors."

Dear Friends-

A number of you have asked 'where are you going?' when I leave St. John's at the end of the month. The answer has two parts. First, we will be staying in our home in Essex. We love the North Shore and all that it offer our family; the schools, the beautiful landscape, etc. The second part of the answer is that I'll be working at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Weston, Massachusetts. So, while I won't be leading worship on Sunday mornings here at St. John's, I'm sure to run into you around town. Give me a wave if you see me out running and let me know if you have friends in Weston I should reach out to!

The Winter Walk is This Sunday!

The Winter Walk is a campaign raising awareness and funds to help end homelessness in Boston. It centers on an annual walk, 2 miles around the streets of the city in February, the coldest month of the year. It is our chance to link arms with those who experience homelessness and to listen humbly to their stories. This is a great opportunity to learn from individuals experiencing homelessness and local service providers.

You can join our team or donate toward our fundraising goal here: https://secure.qgiv.com/event/winterwalk22/team/889378/?fbclid=IwAR2aU5HGHBSuoRmvUiq-THYK5fLD4vss2uuqBP1D9jsPTFDs_F1wVzD5PLA

Save the Date!

On Sunday March 27th at 4 PM, the St. John's Concert Series will present the second event of our 2021-22 season. The Aardvark Jazz Orchestra concert in October was so much fun and so well attended; we hope to attract a large audience again for this very different but equally lively program.

Former Music Director Jeremy Bruns and current Music Director Frances Conover Fitch will collaborate on an varied and lively program of music for organ, harpsichord, and piano. Francie and Jeremy will be playing some duets. Among the featured composers will be César Franck, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, the child prodigy harpsichordist who lived at the court of Louis IV.
Vestry Nominations

In preparation for our annual meeting in March, the nominating committee would love to hear your recommendations for the vestry. In this important time of transition, a diverse group of leadership is needed.
If you would like to nominate yourself or a parishioner, please reach out to our Senior Warden, Jodie Stevenson, at [email protected].
