YOUTH SAFETY FAIR
**Saturday, October 15th**
SAL members in the Youth Leadership Council, along with the Sheriff's Office Explorers, will be hosting a safety fair at the Walmart Supercenter in Antelope. If you would like more information, contact Lieutenant Hodgkins at shodgkins@sacsheriff.com

TIP-A-COP
**Monday, October 24th**
SAL Deputies and local law enforcement agencies will be serving food at two Texas Roadhouse Restaurant locations from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m.

in an effort to raise funds for the Special Olympics.

HIGHLIGHTED EVENTS
ARI AUTUMN MOON DINNER
The Sheriff's Activities League was a proud sponsor of this year's Asian Resources, Inc. Autumn Moon Dinner held on September 8th. SAL members and Sheriff's Office personnel enjoyed an evening of food and fundraising for one of the largest south Sacramento community resource partnerships.
PLACER COUNTY SAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
SAL was a proud sponsor of the Placer County Sheriff's Activities League Golf Tournament held at The Ridge Golf Course in Auburn on September 2nd. SAL Deputies Chilelli and Hauck ran a competitive driving contest on Hole #6 while members of the SAL Board of Directors took to the course.

NEW SAL/YSU TEAM MEMBER
Deputy Cathy Bakarich joined the SAL/YSU team in early September. Deputy Bakarich has a passion for providing programs for youth with autism. She looks forward to building a partnership with SAL and Fly Brave Sacramento- which is a non-profit whose mission is to help individuals on the Autism Spectrum live life without limits.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
School Supply Deliveries Make a Positive Impact!
SAL deputies were busy all month long making special deliveries of school supplies to local school districts. These donations were made possible due to the amazing Sacramento County community members and the generosity of Walmart!
Run With the Cops 5K
On Saturday, September 17th, SAL Sergeant Sam Flores watched his Florin Law Academy (FLA) mentee, Shahram, win first place in the Run with the Cops 5K held in Oldtown Sacramento. SAL sponsored five FLA students to run in the 5k race.
FLA students handed out junior deputy stickers while all of the race finishers received a free ice cream from the SAL ice cream truck. SAL was proud to create a new experience for the Run with the Cops 5k event.
Rio Linda Car Show
SAL Deputy Hauck drove the SAL Humvee to the American Legion Riders and Cherrietters car show on Saturday, September 10th in Rio Linda. Although the SAL Humvee did not win top prize, it did make the top 11 list. Car show enthusiast and kids enjoyed climbing into the driver seat of the Humvee.

Florin Law Academy (FLA)
September was a busy month for FLA. Some highlights were:
*Visit to the Federal Courthouse in downtown Sacramento for Constitution Day
*Junior class first mentor meeting & catered Chick-Fil-A lunch
*Homecoming & FLA senior, Alondra, brought back the Powderpuff game
*SAL Deputy Chilelli gave a tobacco presentation
*Set up for the CDCR Medal of Valor Ceremony & Raising Cane's for lunch

YOUNG MARINES
The Young Marines were busy in September working on their drill and ceremony techniques. On September 11th, the Young Marines travelled to the Hayward Airport for an Open House event. The unit appreciated getting a first hand look at military aircraft and working with the members from the Golden Gate Unit.

Youth Leadership Council (YLC)
SAL members in the Youth Leadership Council (YLC), along with the Sheriff's Office Explorers, took to Fair Oaks Park on September 17th for the annual Chicken Festival. YLC enjoyed creating a craft project for festival attendees to make. YLC members look forward to assisting the community on October 15th at their safety fair at the Antelope Walmart.

S.H.O.C.K.
SAL Deputy Walls, Twin Rivers School Officers, Probation Officers, SAL/YSU deputies and Sacramento Police Officers welcomed the new students to the 22-2 S.H.O.C.K. session on September 12th.
S.H.O.C.K. participants were introduced to their mentors and learned lessons about communication, anger management and building trust. A few S.H.O.C.K. mentors and mentees have attended events in the community.

SAL VIP Tammy Hinds walked with the Antelope Best Buddies as they made their way to the Stadium for Antelope High School's Homecoming game.
Antelope Best Buddies enjoyed cheering on their home team at the Homecoming game on September 30th.
Smiles at Lunch (S.A.L.)
Earl LeGette Elementary
SAL Sergeant Sam Flores and SAL deputies spent their lunch hour with the students of Earl Le Gette Elementary school in Fair Oaks on September 14th. Students enjoyed seeing all the SAL specialty vehicles and especially enjoyed the free treats from the SAL ice cream truck.

On September 21st, SAL/YSU deputies provided two S.A.L. events for the Delta region of Sacramento County. SAL deputies showed off their cars, inside & out, to the elementary school students at Bates Elementary in Courtland.
SAL/YSU deputies visited Isleton Elementary School on September 21st. Students enjoyed playing games and picked out prizes at the end of their recess time. Everyone had a smile on their face during Smiles at Lunch.
