Denise Scrafton, International Skål Council President, gives us an update on all the news in the International Skål Council over the last few months:

"...an international committee has been formed to identify locations for possible new clubs around the world. This includes work being carried out on a strategy to assist new clubs to be successful and assist struggling clubs.

"Many of our Skål International members, especially from the older generation, might remember Peter Nedomansky from Vienna.

At the upcoming Skål Sustainable Tourism Awards 2021 the Responsible Tourism Institute will award the Special Skål Biosphere Sustainable Lifestyle Award, to one of its winners.

It is a great pleasure to welcome 113 new members who joined Skål International between 16 April and 13 May 2021. And we are proud to know that up to 23 countries have registered an increase in membership!

I would also like to give a very warm welcome to Skål International Calabria (Italy), a club reactivated on 21 May 2021 with 33 founding members!

My support and gratitude for their efforts to Skål International Italy, who are working hard to increase their membership and even hope to be able to create another new club soon. Congratulations!

"The enthusiasm shown by the ‘pioneers’ as they increased, in the short space of four months, from five to eighty members, was wonderful.

The first ‘amical’ dinner was held at the Mollard Restaurant on 24 April. The Iéna Circle hosted an initial conference organized by Skål on 27 April. The topics and speakers were: ‘Tourism in France’ by Mr. Junot and ‘From Friedrichshafen to Río de Janeiro by zeppelin’, by Mr. C. Dolfuss.
