Skiers wishing to reserve a slot to ski with Weibrecht from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and compete against him in a recreational dual giant slalom race from 1:30 to 3 p.m. are still eligible to register for 10 remaining slots. The chapter would like to thank the following sponsors
for their support
:
Alpin Haus Ski Shops; NBT Bank; Capital District Physicians Health Plan (CDPHP); Whiteface Mountain; Mirror Lake Inn; Head Skis; New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF), and the Bullock family. Without them, this event would not be possible.

Spring (Training) is in the Air
|
|

Braeden wished to meet his favorite team, the New York Mets, at spring training in Port St. Lucie. Florida. The 14-year-old Make-A-Wish Northeast New York wish kid is not only a fan, but a ballplayer – a pitcher and first baseman. He hoped to meet his favorite player: First baseman and rising superstar Pete Alonso, who set the team and Major League rookie records for home runs in 2019.
In Florida, the team gave Braeden a full Mets’ uniform – important because he brought out the team’s lineup card to home plate before a Sunday game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Clover Park.
The teen met the Mets in the team’s clubhouse and on the field. He chatted up players such as Michael Conforto, Jacob deGrom, Jeff McNeil and former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, and manager Luis Rojas and his coaches.
“There were so many!” Braeden said. “I can’t even remember them all!”
And he met Alonso
– just not in the way anyone expected. Check out the full story and an embedded video made by the Mets.

They talked a little baseball smack with Yankees fan
Jeff Levack
as Goz soaked it all in, before coach surprised Evan with the news that his wish to meet the Red Sox in spring training is being granted. This was great radio for a great wish, made possible by some great people.
Make-A-Wish Northeast New York Board Chair Sarah A. McKinney and Board member Jim Giordano served as the wish granters.

Trustees: The Foundation of the Foundation
|
|
At Make-A-Wish Northeast New York, our professional staff is guided by a dedicated Board of Trustees, volunteers from the business and medical communities who invaluably help shape the direction of the chapter in ways large and small.
One of those Trustees has not only represented our chapter, but our nation. Andrew Weibrecht is a three-time Olympic skier and a two-time medalist. The Lake Placid standout, whose family owns the Mirror Lake Inn, has been a tireless voice for the chapter in the North Country.
This Sunday, March 15, at Whiteface Mountain, Andrew will host the second annual Ski for Wishes. This growing event, which personally involves Andrew, his family's inn and a host of sponsors, is a perfect example of how our Trustees are invested in the Make-A-Wish mission.
He is not alone. Our Trustees go beyond attending meetings and raising funds. Look no further than Evan's Red Sox wish, detailed above, and note who the volunteer wish granters were: Board Chair Sarah McKinney and Trustee Jim Giordano. Examples of selfless volunteer work can be found for every person who serves on our Board.
The entire Make-A-Wish community is thankful for their service and commitment to creating live-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
Sincerely,
Bill Trigg,
CEO, Make-A-Wish Northeast New York
