A Personal Message from
John & Leigh

We want to reach out to everyone, touch base and make sure you are all doing well. Remember we are all in this together. Mindset is going to get you through this. If you freak out you will make it hard on yourself. Stay busy, eat well, constant hydration with water (not alcohol) will help you stay healthy. Stay clean, wash your hands, wash down the surfaces in your home and get rest. There is only so much you can do in the house if you are cooped up. Now can be the time to work on household projects that you may have been putting off! Stay busy.

With that said, I want to send you a reminder that we are running virtual classes during our regular training slots. If you are interested please contact us.

Feel free to reach out to us if there is anything you may need. We are all stronger as a community!

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy! Stay Strong!
Sincerely,
John & Leigh

Self Defense Tip of the Week
What You Should Do If You Are Knocked to the Ground

All street encounters start standing up a lot of them will go to the ground! How it will go to the ground is an open topic. You could be charged and attempt to get out of the way and trip and fall, immediate tackle with a bear hug type take down or punched and knocked down.

Whatever occurred to get you to the ground really doesn’t matter what matters is how you can protect yourself and escape to safety. In a fall or a take down the first thing we should be aware of is trying to protect our head. If we strike our head on the ground hard enough we will be knocked unconscious or killed.

Once we survive the fall we need to immediately get into a defensive position, assess our situation and if possible escape to a standing position.
The ground defense position will be a defensive position on our back with our legs up as if to build a barrier or a wall. We can kick with our legs in defense as the assailant attempts to get closer. We can also use our legs to propel ourselves in a circle if the assailant attempts to move around us in order to try to get on top of us.

In this ground defense position we also need to understand how to get up quickly. We call getting up to our feet the “Escape to Standing Position.” It is very important to get back up to our feet as soon as we can.

Firearms Training Tip of the Week
Dry Drills

A very important part of handgun training is “Dry Drills”. Dry Drills are done with AN EMPTY FIREARM !! Since we are on lock down here is Leigh using a SIRT HANDGUN for her dry drills.

The SIRT shoots a red laser out to the target showing your hit. It’s safe and there are no live rounds. It also has magazines so you can practice magazine exchanges ( reload drills).

Fitness Tip of the Week
Life Thrown Off Course & Still Staying On Point

Staying accountable can be tough during these trying times. But with a little bit of planning and dedication to your health, you can minimize your slip-ups, or eliminate them all together.

First , consider your "new" schedule. Working from home; the kids stuck in the house; or something as simple as shorting your sleep schedule can really throw off your routine.

Second , scope out your spot. Check your home and backyard for a new workout spot.

Third , plan your meals. It can be tough to find compliant food when your stressed, which sets you up for failure.

And fourth , prepare... create a weekly schedule. Treat yourself like an appointment... you wouldn't cancel on a client for work so don't cancel on yourself.

And as always, stay active, keep hydrated and get things done!
