Self Defense Tip of the Week
NEED A HUG,
BUT NOT A BEAR HUG

Bear hug attacks usually occur in a close encounter and are ambush type attacks.

The person doing the bear hug (attacker) may have an intention to try and pick you up and slam you to the ground or hold you pinning your arms for his accomplice to assist in robbing you. Whether you are attacked from the front or behind it is imperative to fight and get out of the situation.

Attacks with bear hugs can occur from the front or behind you, your arms can be free or pinned. There are many ways of escaping bear hugs, different martial arts or combatives systems have their own.

As shown in the video on a bear hug attack from the front (face to face) with your arms free; your arms and hands are free to attack the subjects face, eyes, ears, and throat.

Learn what it takes to defend yourself from the ground, in common life threatening situations. This workshop focuses on women's self defense techniques that are used if you have been knocked to the ground and/or an attacker is on top of you. These techniques are designed to help women deal with potentially dangerous situations.

Creating realism and adrenal response, self defense techniques will be practiced using full-contact against heavily padded attackers (role players) in a simulation training environment.

Firearms Training Tip of the Week
Main Rule
When Drawing from Concealed

Drawing from concealed... alway make sure you clear the garment you are wearing. Don’t let clothing foul your draw.

Fitness Tip of the Week
Posture
Good Posture:
  • Keeps bones and joints in the correct alignment so that muscles are being used properly.
  • Helps decrease the abnormal wearing of joint surfaces.
  • Decreases the stress on the ligaments holding the joints of the spine together.
  • Prevents the spine from becoming fixed in abnormal positions.
  • Prevents fatigue because muscles are being used more efficiently, allowing the body to use less energy.
  • Prevents backache and muscular pain.
  • Contributes to a good appearance.
To Achieve Good Posture You Will Need:
  • Good muscle flexibility
  • Normal motion in the joints
  • Strong postural muscles
  • A balance of muscles on both sides of the spine
  • Awareness of your own posture, plus awareness of proper posture which leads to conscious correction.
