Use Your Brain and Maybe You Won't Have to
Use Your Hands
In self defense there is no magic pill. There is not an answer for every situation. When you take the time to learn how to defend yourself you will be able to think for yourself and make proper decisions.

Self Defense Tip of the Week
E scape T o G ain S afety
4 self defense moves you can't live without!

Escape = Eyes: It's not pretty, but there is nothing pretty about being in imminent danger. If an assailant pulls you towards him, gouge his eyes. Use your thumbs and drive them into his eye sockets. This move forces the bad guy to release you in order to protect his eyes. It's your chance to get away.

To = Throat: If you think you're in a life-or-death situation, take the little finger side of your hand and jam it into the assailant's throat. This is a serious move, which could crush a person's windpipe and cause suffocation.

Gain = Groin: A hard knee strike or shin kick to the groin should incapacitate the bad guy giving you the chance to escape.

Safety = Shins: A hard rake down the shin or stomp top the foot should change the assailant's thought pattern, possibly shifting his balance and giving you yet another chance to escape.

***Give yourself more of an upper hand by carrying pepper spray. Don't put it in your purse - actually carry it in a ready-to-spray position, if you feel you're in an unsafe environment.

Firearms Training Tip of the Week
Shooting on the Move...
Lateral Movement

Firing on the move requires that the shooter must hit what he/she is shooting at and that the movement is for a specific purpose.

When the shooter is moving he/she becomes more difficult to hit due to the fact that they are moving, compared to being stationary.

The purpose to moving and shooting is a tactical one. Such as moving from one form of cover to another or just escaping the area. A moving target is more difficult to hit than a stationary one.

Firing while on the move laterally may be required of you when moving past a doorway, window or hallway. Moving past open ground. Moving from the inside of your vehicle.

The key being... When possible you need to remove yourself from the direct line of fire!
Fitness & Nutrition Tip of the Week
Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone
.... get comfortable being uncomfortable!

Last year, the Riddle Defense Spartan Team had the opportunity to train at FAU's Rope Course. Needless to say, fear of heights is not an option.

Each year Riddle Defense participates in the Spartan Race. It's not just a race to earn a medal, it's a life lesson of taking obstacles within your life and defeating each, one by one.

The ropes course helped our team come together with team building exercises and facing our own personal fears of tough "high" climbs.

We are currently training for the Palm Beach Spartan Sprint in Boca Raton on April 25, 2020. Interested in joining our team.... speak to either John or Leigh. Check out our video to get a taste of our training.
