The Village of Skokie wishes you and your loved ones a very happy and healthy 2024! 


As a reminder, due to the New Year’s holiday, trash and recycling collections will occur as follows this week:

  • Monday collections will occur on Tuesday
  • Tuesday collections will occur on Wednesday
  • Thursday and Friday collections will occur as normal

Skokie Police Officer Kimberly Blue and Health and Human Services Department social worker Brian McHugh comprise the Village’s Co-Responder Team.


From crisis to care: The Co-Responder Team responds to individuals in crisis and supports community members in need by connecting them with available resources.

Meet with Police Officers In Your Neighborhood


The Skokie Police Department is hosting neighborhood beat meetings throughout the Village this January! Meet with the officers who patrol your neighborhood, discuss issues, and develop solutions. View the beat map and schedule.

Provide Comments On Skokie PD Accreditation


In 2012, the Skokie Police Department became only the sixth agency in Illinois to be accredited by the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP)


This Friday, an independent assessor representing ILEAP will visit Skokie Police to complete an assessment as the department works to renew its elite status. As part of the process, ILEAP invites community members to provide comments on the department’s ability to comply with ILEAP’s professional standards.

Top Chefs Praise EJ’s Place 


Congratulations to Skokie’s EJ’s Place, which received kudos from top Chicagoland chefs when asked to share their favorite suburban dishes of the year (subscription required) with the Chicago Tribune. 


What to try: Three chefs singled out EJ’s as the place to go for Shrimp DeJonghe, Lamb Chops and Chilean Sea Bass.

Reminder: Recycle Holiday Lights and Trees


Trees: Public Works is picking up real Christmas trees during the weeks of January 2 and 8, 2024. Place trees in your normal refuse collection area and remove all lights and ornaments. Do not place trees in plastic bags.


Lights: Drop off string lighting and extension cords for recycling at Skokie Public Works, 9050 Gross Point Rd., through January 31.

Happy Retirement, Clerk Shah!

Best wishes to Village Clerk Pramod Shah, who will retire this week after 14 years of service on the Skokie Village Board. Clerk Shah will be recognized at tonight's Village Board Meeting, 7:30 p.m., at Village Hall.
