Voting is now open for the Village's Refuse Truck Youth Art Contest! Select your favorite by Friday, March 29 at 5 p.m. Cast your vote.


The prize: Two winning entries will be chosen to adorn the Village's new refuse truck.

Skokie Summer Music Lineups Announced


Plans this summer? Skokie’s outdoor music scene will be rocking, with exciting concerts planned for June, July and August!


June 21 and 22, Off North Shore: Enjoy music from Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs, Larkin Poe, Grace Potter and more at Skokie Sports Park East. View the Off North Shore lineup


July 26-28, Out of Space: Performing at the Illinois Science + Technology Park, artists will include Courtney Barnett, Thee Sacred Souls, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Guster and more. View the Out of Space lineup and use the presale code, SKOKIE, to purchase tickets. 


August 23-25, Backlot Bash: This year’s Backlot Bash headliners include Arrested Development and Tonic. View the Backlot Bash lineup.

Make Skokie Sparkle this Spring!


The Village's Clean Green litter pickup program is great for all ages and group sizes!


How it works: Gather your family, friends and neighbors, tell us your preferred Skokie clean-up spot (or have one assigned to you), and pick a date between now and April 19. We’ll provide a clean-up kit for your group to pick up.


Register: Register online or call Skokie Public Works at 847-933-8427. All volunteers must also complete the online waiver.

Why it’s important: This new award, developed by the Village’s Sustainable Environmental Advisory Commission (SEAC) in collaboration with Go Green Skokie, recognizes households that demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices.

Raise a Mug to Skokie! 


The Village of Skokie and local businesses recently presented the Skokie Community Foundation with a $1,200 donation courtesy of its “Start Your Day In Skokie” coffee mug campaign! Those who bought a keepsake travel mug this winter were able to get a free coffee or tea throughout the month of January at select locations.


Kudos to our caffeine team: Thank you to Kneads & Wants, Soul Good Coffee, Will’s Place, Qahwah House and Village Inn for participating in this initiative, and to the many community members who purchased mugs!

Protecting Property and People


Village of Skokie Building and Inspection Services Manager Angel Schnur shared information about zoning, permits, remodeling, and more with representatives of nearly 40 local businesses as part of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Real Estate Round Table event last week!


Why it’s important: The Building and Inspection Services Division works with Skokie property owners to ensure buildings are safe and up to code.

Measles Cases Reported In Chicago


Measles is a serious and highly contagious respiratory infection and can be especially harmful to children, babies and pregnant persons. Multiple cases have been reported in Chicago.


Protect yourself: Anyone unvaccinated should get the Measles vaccine right away. Two doses of the vaccine are 97 percent effective at preventing infection.


Symptoms: Call your medical provider if you or your loved ones develop:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Runny nose
  • Red, watery eyes
  • Rash
