Fight the Freeze

Warming Locations Available

The Cook County Skokie Courthouse, 5600 Old Orchard Rd., remains open as a 24/7 warming location through Wednesday, January 17 at 4:30 p.m. View Skokie warming centers.

Prevent Frozen Pipes

Don’t let frozen water pipes add to winter’s challenges. Reduce drafts, run a faucet continuously at a slow trickle, and open cabinet doors in kitchens and bathrooms.

Shoveling Reminder

Be a good neighbor! Keep walkways and public sidewalks adjacent to your property clear of snow and ice to allow everyone – including children and those with disabilities – to travel safely.

Refuse and Recycling Collection Update

Refuse collection continues this week according to the MLK holiday schedule

Some recycling collections have been delayed due to regional weather impacts. Learn more.

Recycle Holiday String Lighting

Burned out bulbs? Drop off holiday string lighting and extension cords for recycling at Skokie Public Works, 9050 Gross Point Rd., through January 31.

Provide Input on Housing Chapter Update

Members of the Housing Sub-Committee and Village staff invite residents to share their concerns, goals and ideas to contribute to the updated Housing Chapter of the Village's Comprehensive Plan at two upcoming public meetings.
