Dear friend of STL,

Welcome to our Fall Newsletter! We are happy to report 2190 lives changed so far!!! Back-to-School 2010 is underway and we have some exciting changes to share with you!
14 students still need laptops!

By now, kids have settled into the routine at school. For most of them, this means researching the Internet, writing book reports and adding new friends to their Facebook pages. But for many, access to a working computer at home is a dream - not a reality. We currently have a waiting list of 14 students in need of a computer this fall. Please help us make their dream a reality!

STL's mission continues with Rema in charge!
Lara Rema
I am absolutely thrilled to announce that my cousin, Rema Tavares (STL's Operations Manager), will assume the role of STL's Executive Director as of the end of this year. With much appreciation and a profound sense of gratitude, I am excited to pass the torch to Rema and I am so pleased to know that the organization I created 8 years ago will be taken to new heights under her care and supervision.

I will assume the new role of STL's Honorary Chair and I'll continue to champion our cause and spread awareness of our good work.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside an amazing team (Grace Han, Sonya Bhatia, and James Bonnici) and I am excited to join the Board of Directors and contribute to STL's growth. I look forward to working with Caroline McIntosh (STL's new Project Coordinator) and continuing to work with our wonderful team of STL volunteers.

Thank you for your support over the last 8 years. My dream to give youth a chance to reach their dreams became a reality because of you! I am proud of the huge difference we have made in our recipient's lives and the resulting impact on communities across Canada.

Onwards and upwards!
