Good Times with Skyline Village Chicago
|
Skyline members enjoyed the arts this summer!
In July the MCA Director of Community Outreach took us on a tour of the Kerry James Marshall: Mastry exhibit. If you haven't seen it yet, treat yourself to this remarkable retrospective of a world renowned artist who happens to live in Bronzeville. The exhibit leaves on Sept 25th.
Several of us joined Encore Illinois Chorale. This is its inaugural year and we are already 40+ voices strong, drawing singers from The Clare, CLL and Skyline. Our final concert brought the Chorales from Hyde Park, North Shore, Hinsdale and our Gold Coast Chorale together to fill Buchanan Chapel with glorious music. Join us this fall as we prepare for the Holiday concert, and for other opportunities to enjoy our wonderful neighborhood.
Did you enjoy one of SVC's events and want to tell us about it? Do you have some pictures to share? We'd love to have your reviews and your photos for the newsletter and website.
Email to:
Be sure to include the event you attended and the names of the folks in the photos.

SVC Favorite Thing:
Walks Along the Lake
I love walking along the lake each morning with friends or listening to my favorite
podcasts. The path is usually pretty open. Great way to get in some exercise, catch up with people's lives and appreciate this great gift of ours.

SVC Favorite Thing:
Trader Joe's Potstickers
and Gyoza
It's not always easy to maintain a healthy diet. We get busy and then either skip or eat something silly for dinner. I like to keep a package of Trader Joe's gyoza or potstickers in the freezer. They are great for a quick nutritious meal when you haven't had time to cook and don't feel like venturing out. Pan fry them or toss them in some chicken broth and they are ready in five minutes.
Great way to use up some leftovers! That leftover half a piece of chicken and little bit of veggies quickly become a a satisfying yet low calorie dinner. Vegetable, Chicken, Pork and Shrimp flavors.

A special thank you to Karen Ross, who recently stepped down from the Skyline Board. Karen has been on the board since we formed the group and was instrumental in producing the newsletter for years. We are grateful for her years of work and wise counsel.

Nice to see Regan Burke back on her feet again after undergoing two knee surgeries this summer. She is getting back into the swing of things with the Beatles' Sing Along last month . Hopefully she'll be back on her bike before the snow flies.
Way to go Regan!!
