Ground Breaking Ceremony held for
Slim Chickens in Williston
Williston Economic Development - A ground breaking ceremony was held Tuesday, September 21, for the first new business to settle into Williston Square. The celebration for Slim Chickens was attended by restaurant and City of Williston officials. “We are excited to have Slim Chickens break ground at Williston Square,” said Williston Economic Development Executive Director Shawn Wenko. “This is a significant milestone because they are the first of many businesses that will build here.” Read More

Pizza Ranch, Genesis coming to Williston Square
KUM V-TV - Williston Square saw its first groundbreaking on Tuesday, and Mayor Howard Klug says that’s only just the beginning for that area. Joining Slim Chickens is Pizza Ranch, which signed a purchase agreement on Wednesday. Clothing store Genesis will also be building a bigger store in the area. Klug says crews have put a lot of effort into putting in infrastructure and he is looking forward to seeing vertical construction. Read More

Season Four of Williston Works Podcast
to launch October 1
Williston Economic Develop ment - Williston, N.D. - Williston Economic Development (WED) has announced it is releasing Season 4 of its Williston Works Podcast. The 2021 series will feature eight episodes beginning on Friday, October 1 with Emma Kuester and Jake Boreson of Busted Knuckle Brewery. Mini Match Monday to feature Angel's Childcare
Williston Economic Development - Williston Economic Development will feature Angel’s Childcare on its Mini Match Monday promotion on September 27. Angel Lindgren is the owner and operator of day care. She opened her business in August 2020 and utilized the Williston STAR Fund Mini Match program to purchase toys, educational books, child safety appliances and a full security system.

Burgum addresses Oil and Gas Industry at NDPC Annual Meeting in Watford City
Williston Herald - Gov. Burgum’s net-zero challenge to industry during the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference raised eyebrows — and maybe even a few hackles — back in May. It did something else, too, though. It has attracted what Burgum described as a multibillion dollar “cascade” of global investment interest. Burgum was a featured speaker at the North Dakota Petroleum Council’s annual meeting on Wednesday, September 22 in Watford City. Read More

SBDC, WED help prepare Hair Society Institute of Cosmetology Students for Future
Williston Economic Development - Keith Olson, Small Business Development Center regional director, held a training session at the Hair Society Institute of Cosmetology in Williston on Thursday, September 23. Olson and Devyn Cox and Barbara Peterson of Williston Economic Development shared tips with the students about starting a small business. There are 27 students in the current class.

NDDOT wins Award for Long X Bridge Project
News Rele ase - The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) received a regional award for the new Long X Bridge located in western North Dakota. The award was announced at the America’s Transportation Awards, held at the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials conference on Sept. 15 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Read More
