COMING SOON: NEW WSCC CONNECT SERVICE
CLAIMS COST SUMMARY

Coming January 2019, get your Claims Cost Summary online! Log in to WSCC Connect to generate your report with up-to-date claims cost information whenever you need it.

The report lists the costs within a payment year associated with each specific worker's claims, if any. It allows employers to examine their safety record, determine any trends in reported injuries, and prioritize helping workers return-to-work.

Previously, Claims Cost Summary reports were mailed out to employers at specific points in the year. By moving this service online, employers can now receive the most current information available, any time they need it.

Stay tuned for more information in next month's issue!

Slips, Trips, and Falls
DON'T RUIN YOUR HOLIDAYS WITH ONE!

It's that time of year again: we are entering the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Between decorating your home or workplace, shopping for or mailing gifts, and cooking holiday dinners, there is a lot of rushing around.

Don't let yourself get too caught up to watch for slips, trips, or falls.

As we all know, it gets dark much earlier here in the north. Snow flurries can disguise icy grounds or black ice on roads.

Let's all enjoy the holiday season by staying injury-free. Wear appropriate footwear for the weather, plan ahead and take your time, and watch where you are going at all times. You've heard it from us before: staying safe during the holiday season is always #worthit
!

REPORT UNSAFE WORK
SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY

The Internal Responsibility System (IRS) tells us that safety is everyone's responsibility. It is our duty to each other to keep everyone safe, whether at home or in the workplace. Here in the north, where our communities are much smaller, it's more important than ever that we watch out for one another.

If you see any unsafe acts, conditions, or worksite hazards, you have the right and the responsibility to report it. The WSCC has an anonymous online reporting service, Report Unsafe Work, accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Don't forget that as a worker, you should first report the situation to your supervisor, or their supervisor. Together, you and your supervisor can assess the hazardous condition and resolve it. Report it through our online service if the situation does not improve; we are here to help.
ANNUAL PAYROLL REPORT
OHS QUESTIONS: HOW TO

By now, employers should have received information on submitting the Annual Payroll Report through WSCC Connect. The deadline for submitting is February 28, 2019, but you can submit as early as January 2, 2019. Remember, you must submit an APR even if you are reporting zero (0) payroll. The penalty for late submission is 15% of your previous year's employer payroll assessment.

Please note that the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) section introduced last year is a requirement for completing your submission. Below are some tips to help you with the process.

Research your OHS answers before you begin: WSCC Connect users should consult with the person who manages OHS in their company (or the company they are filing for) to provide Yes/No answers to the OHS questions.

Use our step-by-step guide: the complete set of questions with explanations of what to look for is in Section 4 of the
Guide to Completing Annual Payroll Reporting .

Let us help: our OHS team can guide you through the questions if you are still unsure. Call us at 1-800-661-0792 and ask to speak with our OHS team in Prevention Services.
