Message from the Board

It's amazing how quickly two years can pass!  At the end of the 2012-2013 school year, when we came together to plan and prepare for our term as a Board, we could never have foreseen all that would transpire.  From the very, very bottoms, to the tippy, tippy tops, we have come together as a group, as a PTO, and as a community to support our kids, our teachers, and our school.  It's been a fun run working closely with the staff at Sloan, getting to know so many of you, and developing a tight friendship between us, but now it is time to pass the torch to a new group.  How exciting it will be for us to watch them run with it!

Thanks to all of you who volunteered, cheered, chaired, and supported "our" PTO.  We literally could not have accomplished anything without you, and we hope that you will continue to lend your support to our incoming Board as they set out to put their own mark on the PTO.  Please welcome President Kelly Thomas, Vice President Lisa Fellner, Co-Treasurer Tonee Girdis (who joins existing Treasurer Nancy Golembiewski), and Secretary Monica Bush.  It is a wonderful feeling to be leaving this incredible organization in their capable hands!

Have a wonderful summer,

Mother & Son Night

The Mother & Son Night Kickball Tournament was attended by well over 100 mothers and sons.

Much appreciation for everyone's patience while clerical issues were sorted out.  We hope everyone enjoyed Kona Ice and the Photobooth.  Special thanks to

our two dads for coaching and our high schooler for pitch

ing the entire evening.  Extra special thanks to the maintenance team who cleaned up at the end of the evening!

Relay For Life

Each year, I am in awe of the creativity, passion, and generosity on display at Murrysville's Relay for Life.  This year was no exception.  Murrysville youth, businesses, and organized teams came out in droves to celebrate life through laughter and enjoying one another's company, mourn those who have lost their fight with cancer, and raise money to support those Relay For Life who still fight (To view pictures of the event, click here).

Team Sloan raised $2691.53 which included Duck Race donations and individual team fundraising efforts.  Many thanks are extended to all the families and teachers who supported this worthy cause through donations and/or attending the event.  Your generosity is overwhelming!  I'd like to recognize and give special thanks to our team members who walked for Team Sloan: Carianne Bernadowski; Kelly Thomas; Monica Bush;  Renee Gorczyca; Tricia Mitchell; Kara Bertucci; Lori Hall; Wendy Lindeman; Dennis Murphy; Pam Rowell; and Jennifer Taylor.  I was proud to walk beside them in our community fight against cancer and look forward to next year!  If you or a loved one needs help in your fight against cancer, please go to cancer.org to take advantage of the support programs offered by the American Cancer Society.  Best wishes for a healthy and happy summer!

Bus Driver Appreciation Day

Bus Driver Appreciation Day on June 1st was a success! We heard lots of stories and

saw wonderful pictures of our students and their families spreading thanks to our bus drivers. Their warm hellos and bright smiles are a testament to th s pecial skills required to perform an often thankless task.
Until next year...Beep Beep!
