Fall Speed Ahead

Fall is officially here and it's not just evident by the changing leaves - Our PTO seasonal events put everyone in the mood for crisper air and spooky nights. Our Family Movie and Fun Night was a rousing success, engaging lots and lots of kids in the fall spirit with crafts, costumes and a spooky-fun flick. Fall parties also went off without a hitch (unless you count the one that the auto club used to pull my car out of the mud that day - NOTE to all PTO volunteers, do not park in the grassy areas around the school no matter how full the lot gets. <grimace>) engaging all of our kids with games, crafts and treats. In all, it was a wonderfall October for the PTO.

Moving into November, we look forward to our first daytime General Assembly Meeting, November 15 at 9:30 am in the LGI. This meeting will feature our District's Assistant Superintendent and Principal Burns as speakers. As always, our terrific Hospitality team will bring yummy treats and younger children are welcome to attend.

Finally, we are still seeking a co-Secretary to work with our wonderful Debby Rhea and with our entire team. Anyone who is interested should send an email to

Until next month... your Executive Board:

Birthday Books

Will your child be celebrating a birthday this month?  One unique way to commemorate your student's special day is with a Birthday Book from Sloan Library!  For just a $6.00 donation toward the book's cost, your child can choose from our new book section on the Birthday Book Shelf AND be the very first one to check it out!!  Your child's selected book will include a personalized dedication plaque, and a picture of him/her holding the book will go up on Sloan's Birthday Wall outside the Library. For a Birthday Book Form and additional information, please click here, or visit the Library Resources section of Sloan's webpage. Proceeds from Birthday Books go toward the purchase of more books for our Library collection!

Project Bundle-Up

Thank you to everyone that donated to Project Bundle-Up. We raised a total of $730.00. The money will be presented to WTAE at the student's assembly on Wednesday, November 13th. The assembly will be a combination of both WTAE & the Carnegie Science Center. We would like for all the students to wear their Blue & Gold clothing that day to show our school spirit. Also, make sure to watch the news that evening & you may get a glimpse of your child on TV. It should be an exciting day for the students.

Miss Adams's Kindergarten class raised the most money & will have the chance to change the I Spy Table in the lobby at school. Congratulations to them!
