Slow and steady wins the race, right?
Greetings!,

How are you?

I hope you have been able to avoid the flu and all the viruses going around. It's really a big deal, so many people sick here in the Boston area. I hope you and your family are doing well.

This week was my first week back at work and grad school since the car accident, and wow has it been hard.  By Wednesday afternoon, I was completely exhausted and crawled into bed. I took it easy yesterday, too.  I am really stunned at how much work it is to heal from whiplash.  The injury pushed my fibromyalgia out of remission, so I have those extra elements of pain and fatigue to add to my complaint list.  To be honest, it's been challenging.

I was feeling really angry and victimized about how the accident happened to me and is making it difficult for me to do

the things that bring me joy like yoga, cooking, and writing my blog, through no fault of my own. My car was stopped at a red light, and the guy behind me didn't see the light or the stopped cars and rear ended my car.

Then I remembered that we so rarely have control over what happens to us in life.  What we have control over is how we respond to what life throws at us. I wanted to have a positive response to this challenging situation.

I decided then and there to stop feeling frustrated and focus on being proactive instead. I pulled out my pain management binder full of the techniques and skills that put my fibromyalgia in remission.  I signed up for physical therapy and started back at the gym to use the recumbent bike even though it takes a lot out of me. I remembered that slow and steady wins the race, and that I need to pace myself and take it one day at a time.

So that's what I'm doing - taking it slow and resting when I need to instead of feeling stuck.  I am cutting myself a lot of slack and not worrying about getting things perfect. I'm coaching and teaching my classes, and doing everything else when I can.  In between I'm resting and healing my body.

Despite my physical challenges, my annual retreats were fantastic! On Monday, I held one just with The Healing Center staff. Then on Tuesday was the Annual Retreat for Heart Centered Entrepreneurs which was also fabulous. We created sacred space, looked at how to invite abundance into the fabric of our businesses and mapped out marketing plans and milestones for 2013.

I have one extra binder with all the activities we did at the retreat along with a DVD of four of my recorded meditations. Email me by Monday January 14th with why you would benefit from the binder and a complimentary 45 minute New Year Strategy Session with me about your business, and on Tues January 15th I'll select someone to receive both!  Even if you don't win, you can still sign up for a New Year Strategy Session with me. See below.

Also on January 15th, a lunchtime Reiki 2 class is starting and Reiki Master starts January 27th. Check out the January Reiki class schedule in the right column here.

And don't forget to rejoin my mailing list based on you area(s) of interest so you don't get left behind in 2013!

Wishing you and yours a wonderful week!

Warmly,
Joanna
