February marks the beginning of Black History Month, a time to honor and celebrate the profound contributions of Black individuals and communities throughout history.

Here are five meaningful ways your family can celebrate this month:

  1. Support Black-Owned Businesses – Explore and support local Black-owned shops, restaurants, and services in Cleveland! Check out this list for inspiration, and let’s uplift our community together this Black History Month and beyond. 💛🖤Which businesses will you visit first?
  2. Read Together – Share children’s books that celebrate Black history, culture, and heroes, like Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry or Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History by Vashti Harrison. Pro tip: Find these books at Black History Month events like this one!
  3. Visit a Museum or area exhibit – Take a trip to the Cleveland Museum of Art for their free Black History Month tours (reserved tickets required). More info here.
  4. Make a Craft – Help your child honor Black History Month with a craft. Search for simple coloring pages online, like this printable one, found here.
