NYSRA Testifies on SLA Draft Guidance

Monday morning the NYSRA advocacy team testified in front of the State Liquor Authority regarding the draft guidance that has been issued to regulate 3rd party delivery providers.

We explained to them why the lack of clarity in this guidance is problematic and dangerous for small business owners. We expect to hear more about this issue in the coming weeks.

Thank you to all who attended the recent Regional Member Mixers!

NYSRA recently held regional member mixers in Rochester and Buffalo, where our Chairman of the Board, John Urlaub, and our president and CEO, Melissa Fleischut, got together with members and prospective members to discuss our expanded support services and current issues facing our industry. We had a fantastic time meeting with you all, and were glad to see such a great turn out!

Don't live in Rochester or WNY? Don't worry! We will be holding these events statewide. Keep an eye out for information regarding when we will be in your area here.

De Blasio didn’t do the homework necessary to support his paid vacation plan

We agree with Mayor de Blasio’s refrain: All working New Yorkers deserve to have some time off. A body of research supports the idea that vacation days are not only healthy for employees but good for the bottom line, boosting productivity and morale.

But a City Council bill the mayor is backing to guarantee up to 10 paid vacation days yearly to all full- and part-time employees at businesses with five or more workers is deeply flawed. Its approach is overboard, its foundation built on flimsy research.
