MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

October 2, 2023

Superstars in Business is one of the State Chamber's signature events. It is at this event we recognize, award, and celebrate small businesses and nonprofit organizations that are the very definition of excellence. Each year we sell out the Gold Ballroom at the Hotel du Pont to stand and applaud our winners. Children’s Beach House, Inc., NERDiT NOW, Breakwater Accounting & Advisory, and Belfint, Lyons & Shuman, P.A. are the 2023 honorees!

This is the 25th anniversary of the event, and we are proud of all our past recipients over the years and the 2023 winners who will be recognized in November. We are grateful for the hard work our Small Business Alliance (SBA) and the selection committee. The origins of the event go back to Marvin S. Gillman whose name we honor with this event. Every year, the winners demonstrate outstanding achievements and this year is no exception.

Sponsorship opportunities and tickets to this prestigious event are available here. If you have never attended or would like to be considered for recognition next year, plan to join us on November 8 and hear firsthand what it takes to be a Superstars in Business winner!

News You Can Use

Economic data and news begin this morning with the release of construction spending figures for August. On Tuesday, August job openings (forecasted to be 8.8 million) will be announced, while Wednesday brings us ADP employment figures for September and factory orders for August. Thursday’s highlight is U.S. trade deficit results for August. We wrap up the week on Friday with U.S. unemployment numbers for September and consumer credit use for August.

This is a very light week for earnings calls and that’s not entirely surprising given we just concluded Q3 of the fiscal year for many businesses. In the coming weeks, things will undoubtedly heat up. There are no calls scheduled for today. McCormick & Company headlines the Tuesday calls and is joined by Cal-Maine Foods. Helen of Troy, RPM, and Tilray are scheduled for Wednesday. Lamb Weston, Conagra, Constellation Brands, and Levi Strauss are part of the lineup later in the week.
