In August, the clinic was awarded grants from The Ford Family Foundation and The USDA which will fund the Rural Program. Clients of the program will pay $25 for up to ten hours of one-on-one transactional legal assistance.
New Required Access to Justice CLE Offered through the SBLC
The SBLC is hosting a required CLE for all volunteer attorneys on the role race plays in building trust in attorney-client relationships. This CLE will focus on race from historical, institutional and personal perspectives. The CLE is offered on November 5th in the morning and December 18th in the afternoon. More dates will be offered throughout 2020. The CLE costs $30 and the SBLC offers waivers to recent Pro Bono Attorney volunteers.
"What really caught my eye was the fact that a portion of the work would be dedicated to serving rural communities, and especially Native American entrepreneurs." Shanna will be assisting rural small businesses and non-profits with transactional legal matters, with a focus on serving Native American communities.
