The day after Black Friday is Small Business Saturday. There are many ways you can get involved in this event that promotes buying from small businesses. Here are a few ways you can make the most of this time for your business even if you have very little time to prepare.

  1. Be open. You can't take part if you're closed. In fact, you may consider extending your hours for that day or for the entire weekend. However, if you do, you need to market this on social media and your website.
  2. Contact your local chamber. Find out how they're celebrating and how you can be a part of it.
  3. Bring your store outside. If the climate and space allow, consider bringing a rack or some other showing of your business out to the sidewalk to draw people in. If you do, have a sales associate there with a portable payment option for frictionless transactions.
  4. Create specials for that day and post them to social media. Or tell people to watch your social media for exclusive flash sales.
  5. Host contests or special drawings to build the fun.

It's almost here! Small Business Saturday is November 24. We're giving away a gift basket with items donated from local small businesses to one lucky shopper! To be entered to win, you have to visit participating businesses and fill out a ticket. We've also given a limited amount of Shop Small tote bags with items that have been donated by member businesses to participating businesses and they will be handed out to the first several customers.

Are you curious about what businesses will be offering or doing on Small Business Saturday? Check out our Facebook Live videos on our page.

We have a complete list of participating businesses listed on our Huntingdon County Small Business Saturday Event on Facebook.

Please get out and shop at these businesses on Small Business Saturday. They have put a lot of fun and effort into their specials and other exciting things they have going on for this very special day.

Wish the excitement of Small Business Saturday could last for more than just one day? Well you are in luck! We're partnering with downtown Huntingdon and Smithfield merchants for another gift basket giveaway! These businesses will have a "passport" that you must fill by shopping at your local small businesses to enter to win. For more details on this promotion, please contact MacKenzie at mhuntsman@huntingdonchamber.com.

Featured Benefit

The HCCC Member to Member Facebook page was created for our members to communicate with each other. This is a great opportunity for you to discuss ideas and issues with fellow members. The group is a closed group, so if you are not yet part of it just visit the page and request to join. Chamber staff will approve your request and then you can start talking. We also post video tips on that page.
