2026 Mid-Year Economic Update | |
The Village of Schaumburg presented its Mid-Year Economic Update to the Schaumburg Business Association on June 9, drawing more than 110 business and community leaders. Attendees heard insights from Adrian Brizuela of CoStar on the Chicagoland commercial real estate market, as well as a panel discussion featuring Tedd Brewer of Andretti Indoor Karting & Games and Chris Speca of Woodfield Mall on the evolving landscape of destination entertainment and regional retail.
Brizuela highlighted the continued strength of the Chicagoland commercial real estate market, with multifamily, industrial, and retail sectors outperforming amid ongoing supply constraints. While the office market remains challenged, conversions and demolitions of obsolete properties are helping to reduce excess inventory and improve long-term market fundamentals.
Brewer and Speca shared positive updates on consumer activity, noting strong traffic and sales at both Andretti Indoor Karting & Games and Woodfield Mall. Their remarks underscored the continued demand for premium experiences and high-quality retail offerings, reinforcing Schaumburg’s position as a premier destination for shopping, dining, entertainment, and tourism.
Village staff also highlighted several recent business openings and investments, including H Mart, Rohrman KIA, Hydac, Mizkan, and Hopscotch. Additional businesses expected to open or expand in Schaumburg over the next year include Piccolo Buco, CAVA, The Fresh Market, Napleton Subaru, Vuori, Boiler Equipment Company, and Yamada. These investments reflect the continued confidence businesses have in Schaumburg’s strong market fundamentals, strategic location, and exceptional amenities.

The Village of Schaumburg offers loans for small business owners to stimulate economic growth and create jobs for low- and moderate-income individuals. The Small Business Loan Program provides eligible applicants with 80% matched, forgivable loans of up to $15,000. Funds may be used for:
- Payment of staff salaries, operating capital
- Lease/acquisition of tenant space/property
- Acquisition of inventory, supplies and raw materials
- Acquisition of furniture, fixtures, equipment and tools (with or without installation costs)
- Marketing materials and advertising including website development and servicing and marketing campaign (limited to 50% of loan)
A business must have at least 0.5 FTE (or 20 payroll hours per week) and 51% or more of the total payroll need to be low-to moderate-income positions.

This curated workforce and opportunity expo, rather than a traditional job fair, is designed to align employers, educators, workforce organizations, and entrepreneurship stakeholders around high-demand career pathways, while connecting participants with motivated, mission-driven talent, including veterans and military-connected professionals.
Featured sectors include advanced manufacturing, healthcare, digital infrastructure & data centers, education & credential pathways, entrepreneurship & small business development, and general career development. Organizers are anticipating 30–50 participating organizations and 300–600 attendees, including students, career changers, and workforce program participants.
