Midway Village Museum is conveniently located just minutes from I-90 on Rockford's east side. There are many opportunities to engage your students at the museum. These three field trip outlined below are now available with COVID-19 safety protocols in place to provide an out of the classroom experience this spring. Small Group Field Trips Available This Spring

On Reserving A Field Trip In 2021

Specifically designed field trips implemented in small groups for ample social distancing are available at Midway Village Museum. The field trips have also been planned to match the classroom study goals according to Illinois State Standards. To review these standards go to: www.midwayvillage.com/standards. These are perfect for homeschool students or smaller sized classes.

To reserve a classroom field trip on the dates outlined below, call Caitlin Treece, Museum Educator at 815-397-9112, ext. 106 or [email protected]. She will assist you in planning the field trip and answer any other questions you may have. The registration deadline is 4 pm on the Tuesday one week prior to the field trips.
Organized for smaller groups, these programs are limited to 10 students for each reservation. The museum is required to follow State of Illinois mandates regarding COVID-19 at the time of the field trips and masks are required on the museum campus by all visitors and staff.
 
General Museum Guided School Tour Program
Tuesdays, March 9 or March 23, 2021
Session Times Available
10 am to 11:30 am or Noon to 1:30 pm
 Interpreters dressed in turn-of-the century style costumes, guide students through hands-on exhibits examining Rockford's history of immigration, industrialization and pop culture. This school program is geared towards students in 1 through 12 grades.
Program length: 1.5 hours Cost: $6 per student $8 per adult
 
Village Tour Program
Tuesdays, April 6 and April 13, 2021
Session Times Available
10 am to 11:30 am or Noon to 1:30 pm
Historically dressed interpreters lead students through a tour of our Victorian Village, providing a first-hand look into home life, economics and pastimes of Illinois residents from 1890-1910. This school program is geared towards students in 1 through 12 grades.

Many Faces, One Community Exhibit Tour Program
Tuesdays, March 2, March 16, or March 30, 2021
Session Times Available
10 am to 11:30 am or Noon to 1:30 pm
This interactive tour promotes critical thinking and historical analysis. Students will examine similarities and differences of Rockford over time, while understanding causes of intolerance and how they can personally make a difference today. The field trip will also include hands-on activities in our classroom. This school program is geared towards students in 1 through 12 grades.
