Also known under its codename “Coffee Lake Refresh”, 9th generation of Intel’s Core CPU product line is an update for its 8th generation Coffee Lake processors with such enhancements as a better thermal interface on the higher end CPUs and support for up to 8 cores. Combined with newer chipsets, they support integrated USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbps) & CNVi-enabled Wi-Fi. Its microarchitecture is still based on the original 6th Gen Skylake from 2016, but manufactured with Intel’s latest 14nm process for the sake of achieving higher frequency and efficiency, and with more cores.
