New Scale's M3 micro stages have built-in controllers to give you the smallest system size and fastest integration into your instruments. 

Our newest stage, the  M3-LS-3.4,  has 15 mm of travel and enough load capacity to move objectives in embedded microscopes. 

Use it to create smaller, higher-precision instruments for microscopy, spectroscopy, automated sample analysis, cytology, cell sorting and much more. 

The M3-LS-3.4 can move microscope objectives of up to 100 grams in the vertical axis, with 500 nm position resolution, for optimized focus. 

You can easily and add X and Y translation as well. 

All stages work on direct 6 VDC input so you can power your instrument with batteries or low-cost DC supply. 

The embedded controller accepts simple high-level motion commands directly from your system controller via standard I2C or SPI serial interface. An optional USB adapter allows direct connection to a PC.

We're just back from the Society for Neuroscience annual meeting, where our distributor NeuroNexus demonstrated our Multi-Probe Micromanipulator (MPM) System - an advanced scientific instrument based on the M3-LS-3.4 microstage

The MPM System inserts probes into small animal brain cells. The M3-LS is the only microstage that is compact, precise, stable and quiet enough to meet the specifications for simultaneous positioning of multiple probes in a tiny area of the brain. 

Using the M3-LS, we were able to develop this elegant, compact instrument in just a few months. See our Nov. 2016 case study from Medical Design Technology magazine.

Then we incorporated several rounds of improvements, including swapping in the newer M3-LS-3.4 microstage for longer travel and creating custom probe holders for a variety of probes. The system was commercialized in less than a year.
