Every child. Every neighborhood. Ready.

Thank you for being a part of our community. As we celebrate this year, we would like to highlight the ways that Smart Beginnings promotes positive early childhood experiences to build a strong foundation for young children from birth to age 5. But we can’t reach our vision alone, so please consider how you might support us as the year draws to a close.

Support For School Age Learners

In December 2020, a network of regional hubs was created in high-needs areas to build the supply of safe learning spaces for children 3 - 12 years old, so their parents could continue to work.

Smart Beginnings was proud to serve as one of six hubs with the goal of increasing the supply of child care in Hampton, Newport News, James City County, and Williamsburg.

We are grateful for this partnership with the Virginia Department of Social Services, Governor Northam, and the Virginia General Assembly.

On page 3 of our Impact Report, you can learn about how funding from this project helped families pay for child care so they could work when schools were closed.
