Significant progress in the River Clean-Up Project
We're happy to present the latest update from our River Clean-Up initiative, highlighting our ongoing efforts to safeguard the environment. In the month of Feb, our dedicated team from the Green-Tech Foundation, who is leading the successful clean-up operation at Nondein River in Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills District, with Clearbot's Robotic Boat has collected a total of 1357 kgs of waste, of which 428 kgs were responsibly disposed of in Mawsmai, and an impressive 400 kgs were recycled, exemplifying our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Looking at the teams' efforts and the result in the river's cleanliness, the residents have also started taking small steps in managing their household trash. We extend our gratitude to everyone involved in this crucial endeavor and look forward to continuing our mission for a cleaner, greener future.

The Blog: From the Ground Up: Community Engagement in Rural Development
Community, compassion, and commerce are woven together in the spirit of Open Innovation for rural development by the Smart Village Movement. We scout innovative technology solutions for every aspect of human life—Healthcare, Education, Livelihood, Infrastructure, and the Household. By approaching rural communities mindfully, mobilizers can build trust and strengthen relationships with community members, leading to more successful project implementation and long-term sustainability.

Importance of Community Connections and Engagement:
Our mission at Smart Village Movement is to redefine rural development through sustainable and collaborative projects. We base our approach on our experience in rural Meghalaya in Northeast India. The unique challenges presented by the region's topography, demography, and social-cultural moorings are essential factors to consider when designing a program that can be both sustainable and deliver true impact. We combine age-old indigenous wisdom with cutting-edge technology and only introduce opportunities, market products, services, and business models conducive to the region. Read More
