SHOULD I BUY THE DIP,
SIT TIGHT, OR SELL?

Well, it has finally happened! The stock market has taken that dreaded
correction. So far this year, the S&P is down 15%, the Dow is down 11%
and the Tech-heavy NASDAQ is down 24%.
I'm so glad to be focusing this month's theme on growing and protecting your portfolio in a turbulent market, because this is the worst three month start for the market on record.
Since last fall when we reached an all-time high in the stock market, I have been begging women to get with their advisor to evaluate their goals and to reduce their "risk" in their portfolios.
You see, almost every woman I have met with during the last five years has been invested in almost ALL stock or stock mutual funds. This has been an ideal place to be since the 2009 Great Recession, but for women 60+, having too much "stock" in your retirement portfolio can jeopardize your plans.

CREATING RETIREMENT INCOME IN TURBULENT MARKETS
|
By Katana Abbott, CFP®, SWE Founder
There are over 73 million Baby Boomers who are pondering how they will create income to take them through the third stage of their lives without running out.
Times have changed since I first started my career as a financial advisor in 1987. That was 30 years ago, and back then, the consensus was that retirement was like a 3-legged stool made up of pension, Social Security, and savings, and if one of those legs was wobbly, your stool could fall over, meaning your retirement wasn’t stable.
Today, all those legs are wobbly!

FUND YOUR RETIREMENT WITH A PASSION PROJECT
|
By Katana Abbott, CFP®, SWE Founder
According to a recent Federal Reserve Board study, a full 1/3 of those who retire eventually reverse retirement and return to work on either a full or part-time basis. With the recent market volatility and increased inflation, I believe for most women 60+, the new retirement solution will be a combination of working, learning, and sharing with a lot of fun included.
Women I work with are incorporating their passion projects to produce extra income to supplement their savings, Social Security, and pensions. This could include writing a book or book series, coaching, consulting, speaking, or teaching something.

LEARN THE SECRETS TO BEING AGELESS
|
|
Chronological aging is inevitable. Physical aging does not have to happen in the way we’ve been taught to believe... In other words, it's not necessarily true that your memory has to diminish, your body weaken, or your skin sag when you hit fifty or sixty.
In fact, there are simple steps you can take at any age to insure lifelong health, vitality and radiance—and previous Smart Women Talk guests Debra Poneman and Ronnie Newman share these steps in their new ebook: Ancient and Modern Secrets for Lifelong Radiance.
In this powerful book, Debra and Ronnie take their combined 80 years of experience teaching how to have lifelong vibrant health and mental clarity, and share their most important teachings with you, including:
- What science says is now aging our skin more than sun exposure (and we all do this unknowingly every day)
- Which types of exercise can give you the vitality of a 20-year-old—even in your 50’s, 60’s, and beyond
- How bad breath can lead to Alzheimer’s and dementia (WHAT!?!?!)
- A little known way to ensure sexual health at every age
- A specific way to use your breath in order to release anxiety and clear your brain in under a minute!!
