Last month the Global Smile Foundation (GSF) team returned to El Salvador for the first time since the COVID pandemic emerged.
With your support, our team provided:
*32 surgical procedures for 27 patients
*230 dental procedures for 58 patients
*68 PCR tests for patients and families
In addition, Dr. Robert Goldsmith, longtime volunteer with GSF, conducted a training for pediatric dentists in partnership with the Ministry of Oral Health.
We were honored to have met with H.E. Arena Ortega, Presidential Advisor for International Affairs and Social Welfare and we are grateful for the support of the First Lady of El Salvador Gabriela de Bukele’s office for the resumption of our outreach cleft program in the country.
Special thanks to our in-country sponsors including Fundación Sagrera Palomo, Hospital para Niños Benjamín Bloom, Club Kiwanis Los Robles, and Gente Ayudando Gente.
We are grateful for your help in making a brighter future possible for our patients and their families.
GSF is honored to have been awarded “Best Paper of the Year” from the Journal of Craniofacial Surgery for our article on safety protocols during COVID.
GSF published A Guide to Developing Safety Protocols for International Craniofacial Outreach Programs During the COVID-19 Era in 2021 to review the process we used in resuming craniofacial outreach programs in low- to middle-income countries (LMICs) during the pandemic.
Your charitable gift could help twice as many patients if you take advantage of your employer's matching gift program!
Check with your HR department or look at your company's website to see if they offer a matching gift program. All you have to do is fill out a form to let them know of your donation, and they will contact us to do the rest.
We appreciate your participation.

We can't believe that we've known Salvador for 11 years! We first met him in 2012 when his family brought him for a cleft lip surgery during our outreach mission in El Salvador. Since then, he has returned every year for continued cleft care. Watching Salvador grow up has been a rewarding experience and we are so grateful to have seen him again this year.
