The Brevoort Cornerstone Community Center's celebrated its redecoration courtesy of the west elm lifestyle and furniture store with a ribbon cutting on February 12. It's the second of nine of CAMBA's Community Centers that west elm plans to redecorate. Three rooms at the Brevoort Cornerstone, which is co-occupied by a senior center and CAMBA's after-school program, received fresh paint, new furniture, rugs, dinnerware and and wall-hangings--all from the west elm store. Attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony were west elm's Jordan Short and Ella Tay, along with Thresia Harris from the Department of Community and Youth Development (DYCD), a representative from Council Member Alicka Ampry-Samuel's office, and representatives from the NYPD'S PSA 3.
CAMBA in the News
CAMBA Program Director Jarrod Colston interviewed on News 12 Brooklyn.
The opening of CAMBA’s Marketplace store at the Brooklyn Academy High School (BAHS) attracted media coverage by News 12 Brooklyn, who promptly dubbed BAHS a “cool school.” CAMBA staff and the administration at BAHS, a New York City Community School, created the Marketplace that serves as a free resource for students needing household and personal care items. The stock includes haircare, skincare and personal hygiene products; cleaning and laundry products, household accessories, clothing, and much more. The goal is to enhance student engagement at school, resulting in improved academic performance and better attendance.
