Smith River Steelhead Fishing
Winter steelhead fishing on the majestic Smith River is one of Pro Guide Mario Gomez’s favorite places to be, there is something about catching steelhead in the Redwoods that makes it special. Known as California’s last wild river, the Smith River is known for crystal clear waters, redwood trees, and is home to a run of huge Steelhead. Professional Smith River Fishing Guide Mario Gomez offers trophy steelhead fishing adventures on the famous Smith River. The

Smith River is California’s number 1 destination for trophy fish.
Smith River steelhead season is one of the most anticipated events for California anglers, the Smith River Steelhead are among the largest in the state and the river holds the state record at over 27 lbs. The prospect of hooking a giant steelhead really gets people fired up and calls the fisherman to the Smith each season. Top rated guide Mario Gomez of Ironhead Guide Service will put you front and center in some of the best fishing you can find on the west coast.

Chetco River Steelhead Fishing
Chetco River Fishing is perhaps the best winter steelhead fishing in Oregon. One of Oregon’s longest undammed rivers, the Chetco flows through rugged mountain canyons with towering fir and redwood trees. The Chetco River is one of Oregon’s top producing rivers in terms of salmon and steelhead. The Steelhead here are both natives and hatchery fish. They’re strong and beautiful, averaging 6 to 12 pounds, with opportunities in the 20 pound range.

Professional Guide Mario Gomez fishes these waters during the fall salmon and winter steelhead seasons. He has recently obtained an Upper Chetco special use permit and is now offering guided fishing trips on the upper Chetco River. Only a limited number of guides have the Forest Service permits to fish the upper river. Mario Gomez from Ironhead Guide Service is one of those guides, allowing him to take his clients to productive, lightly fished sections of the Chetco River.
