Is that you? Is that me? Are we Christians and citizens in name only or do we truly stand for something? Satan’s most effective agents, are those who do nothing in a time of crisis. The church and the country are at the most serious crossroads ever, we either stand now or we pay the consequences of smothered convictions! To remain silent, to do nothing, in a time of emergency, calamity and oppression, is to become complicit with the evil and amounts to the sin of omission.
The greatest want of the church, the nation and the world is the want of men and women who cannot be silenced, bought or sold. Men and women who do not fear to call evil by its right name. Whose consciences cannot be smothered by the convictions before them. Who will stand for right at the peril of their souls? Who in the depths of their hearts know, "We ought to obey God rather than men." Acts 5:29
The great reformer Martin Luther, at the peril of his life, he stood alone with his conscience before the most powerful assembly of clergy and statesmen ever gathered stated, “Unless I am convicted by Scripture and plain reason, I do not accept the authority of Popes and councils because they have contradicted each other. My conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not recant anything. For to go against conscience is neither right nor safe, here I stand, I can do no other, so help me God. Amen”
My convictions say meet the present-day crisis head on with all the skill set God has given you. Or accept the consequences upon yourself, your children and your grandchildren. The choice is yours!
Isaiah 5:20, 21
Remember for evil to prosper all that has to happen is for good men and women to say or do NOTHING! Proverbs 17:15
Dietrick Bonhoeffer, a German pastor, anti-Nazi dissident and author of, "The Cost of Discipleship" poignantly stated, "Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak, is to speak. Not to act, is to act."
The great reformer and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. said, "To ignore evil is to become accomplice to it." Sadly, these warnings are as appropriate and applicable to Christians and Americans today as at any time in history. Ezekiel 33:8
