Aloha is much more than a greeting. The true meaning of aloha is regard for others, caring for those that need support, and lending a hand in times of grief. Therefore the Chamber would like to provide the link below where you can donate to the Maui Chamber of Commerce to help them rebuild local small businesses. Thank you.

Chamber Staffing Announcement

We are excited to announce that earlier this month, Matthew Meszaros officially took over the Tourism Marketing Director position for the tourism department of the Chamber. He has a creative eye for our community, and we look forward to watching him excel. His new email address is [email protected]. His new work schedule is Saturday through Wednesday. If you want to volunteer on the weekends in our office, let him know.

Our second announcement is our new Marketing & Communications Director, Katelyn (Katie) Johnson. She comes to us from Habitat for Humanity and has a chamber/tourism background. She hit the ground running last week and fits right in. She graduated from Oregon State University and worked in newspaper, advertising/marketing, and content creation. To reach Katie, she is taking over the email: [email protected] (Matt’s previous email address).

You can say congratulations to both at our luncheon next Thursday. Be sure to register.

B&O Tax Credit Incentive Opportunity Ends Soon

Q: What is the B&O Tax Credit Incentive Program?

A: As a WA State business owner the B&O Tax Credit Incentive Program allows you to direct your tax dollars directly into the community. It's the only program like it in the United States. Any business in Washington State can pledge to make a donation to the Downtown Waterfront Alliance (or any accredited Main Street organization in WA State) through the program and receive a 75% tax credit on next year’s B&O Tax. The remaining 25% is a tax write off for your business.

Q: How does it work?

A: As a business owner you (or your accountant) fills out the application and makes a pledge in the amount of your choice, then mail a check to the Alliance. Once payment is received the Alliance will work with the DOR to ensure the credit is added to your B&O account in Jan of the following year. For more details click here.
