Notice of Public Hearing

Notice of Public Hearing Proposal to amend language in Gig Harbor Municipal Code 17.96.025 E. and 17.96.030 A. 1. a. to increase efficiency and help small businesses open or expand in the city. (Feb 15th at 5:30pm, City Council Chamber or online via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/95353411299). The Planning Commission is holding a public hearing to update certain language in the code to make it easier for businesses to open or expand. Please feel free to attend or sign up for public comment. You can find the documents here: click here, then click on Permit Notes for details The Chamber supports the city taking actionable steps toward remove barriers and simplifying the process for businesses to open and expand within the city. The voice of business is being heard.

Please Note: there are two lines of text that would be removed under this amendment. Both pertain to capacity reservations and minor site plan review. This amendment would eliminate the need for a minor site plan review where a proposal, typically a tenant improvement, would necessitate a capacity reservation certificate (CRC) for transportation, water, or sewer. The CRC would then be processed concurrent with the building permit, saving time and cost for the applicant. A minor site plan review is a land-use permit and not necessary.
