Alamo Colleges' Delegation Rallies For Community College Day
On January 30, students, faculty and staff from all five of the colleges of the Alamo Colleges District joined Trustees Joe Alderete, Jr., Roberto Z á rate , Dr. Gene Sprague and Student Trustee Monica Scraper, along with hundreds of students from other community colleges around the state, at the capitol in Austin for Community College Day. The group visited the capitol to rally and raise awareness of issues affecting them that may be considered in the current legislative session. The group members visited with elected officials and their aides to get an up-close view of the legislative process. The event was coordinated by the district's Student Leadership Institute.
Alamo Colleges District Launches Interview Series With Chancellor Flores
The first episode of A Seat @ The Table, a live-streamed interview series, featuring Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores and special guests, debuted on Thursday, January 31. The episode centered around student success and the Alamo Colleges District's commitment to its value of "Students First." Special guests included Janice Castillo, NVC alumna (2012), and Nathaniel Castillo Rodriguez, NVC student.
Northwest Vista College Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Welcome Center
Faculty, staff and students celebrated the groundbreaking of Northwest Vista College's new Welcome Center and parking garage today. This milestone event marks the first time in 10 years that NVC has added any new structures to its campus, despite the fact that population growth on the far Northwest Side leads any other area in the city.
City Awards $500,000 For Future Dental Hygiene Program At Palo Alto College
In partnership with the City of San Antonio and the Metropolitan Health District, District 4 City Councilman Rey Salda ña announced $500,000 in dedicated funds toward the implementation of the dental hygiene program at Palo Alto College. Pending accreditation approval, the two-year program is expected to launch in Fall 2021.
Colleges Schedule Events For Black History Month
Several of the colleges of the Alamo Colleges District have events planned throughout the month of February in recognition of Black History Month 2019. On-campus events include presentations, concerts, exhibits, panel discussions and programming that is open to the public.

District 4 Senior Sweetheart Dance At PAC
Celebrate love and laughter at the District 4 Senior Sweetheart Dance, a social gathering for community seniors ages 60 years and older, hosted by Councilman Rey Salda ña and Palo Alto College. This free event is open to the public and will be held at the PAC Gymnasium on Monday, February 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Learn More >
Young Leaders Conference
High school juniors and seniors who want to succeed in college can get a head start at the Alamo Colleges District's 2019 Young Leaders Conference. This year the annual event will be held on Saturday, February 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McCreless Hall at San Antonio College, 1819 N. Main Ave. Learn More >
