CCISD: Snapshots is a weekly photo newsletter that highlights events, activities and happenings across the District. Anyone can submit a photo. Just remember the following:
  • CCISD policy and procedures require all students to have the proper CCISD photo release to appear in CCISD publications 
  • Not all photos submitted can or will be used in Snapshots.The Office of  Communications has final photo approval
  • Photos must be submitted separately in .jpg format

INDUSTRY IGNITE NIGHT
Elementary and secondary science teachers from across Clear Creek ISD gathered at Space Center Houston on October 17 for the inaugural Industry Ignite Night. A  few of the region's leaders in STEM-related careers  spoke about the lifelong influence and impact science teachers can have on their students long into their future careers. The evening was made possible through support from Space Center Houston and Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union. Read more here
GREENE TURNS 40
Greene Elementary celebrated its 40th anniversary during a special ceremony with students, staff and parents. They honored the school's namesake, former Superintendent of both Webster School District and Clear Creek ISD, P. H. Greene. The student honor choir sang and attendees toured the new building additions and admired student artwork throughout the halls before heading to the Diversity Night celebration hosted by the Greene PTA. Students enjoyed arts and crafts and tasting different f ood themed around countries around the world while also learning about their culture and history.
CCISD WITH CHARACTER
Staff from across Clear Creek ISD attended the Character.org National Forum on Character Education in Washington D.C. last week. The team participated in sessions about practical ways to integrate character education into our schools, specifically service learning. Robinson Elementary was also highlighted at the forum and was presented with the school's official  designation as a National School of Character.
MCWHIRTER UNITED
McWhirter Elementary celebrated Unity Day by participating in an activity called "Hug Our School" where students, staff, and visitors joined hands outside to create a sense of community, respect, and kindness. McWhirter Elementary was designated as a "No Place For Hate" campus last year and strives to continue this diversity education through activities like this that unite students and staff.

CLEAR BROOK CAR RACES
The principles of engineering class at Clear Brook High School recently finished building their solar/hydro cell cars and decided to test out their skills and knowledge by racing them against one another. 
FORMER THUNDERBIRD READS TO STUDENTS
A Clear Lake City Elementary alum turned teacher and author recently visited with students and read them a book she recently published. Jennifer Rodriguez, who attended Clear Lake City Elementary from 1983 to 1989, wrote the book "Lunch on Thursdays" based on some of her experiences during school to help students deal with peer pressure and help them stand up to bullying. 
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BROOKSIDE BULLDOG
Parents and community members visited Brookside Intermediate to participate in a Learning Walk through the school. Staff and students shared the school's  mission, core values, beliefs, and learner-driven instructional practices as the groups toured classrooms and observed different lessons.

STEWART CURRICULUM NIGHT
Parents and students recently attended a Family Curriculum Night at Stewart Elementary. There were several informational sessions for both English and Spanish-speaking parents on ways to help their children with reading, math and science coursework at home. After those sessions, there were games themed around each subject for students and their families to enjoy, including bingo for literacy and reading sessions with local firefighters and police representatives.
