Back to School Basics

Our Family Toolkit has been geared up with all things Back-To-School. From supply lists, to start dates, to important days to mark on the calendar, our Toolkit has it all! Give us a visit to get a head start on the new school year.

STAGGERED START DATES

Students will start school in smaller groups, as a way to make our first days a more personable experience for all.

The first two days of school will be used to distribute Chromebooks and share school and district information with students.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

All students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year in Tangipahoa Parish.

The beginning of school is a great time for students to check out what is available in our school cafeterias. Even the pickiest of eaters will find something they like on our menus. Menus are available for viewing online, to provide a way to help plan out days in which your child may want to eat what is served in our cafeteria.

Does your child have a special diet? Be sure to fill our our Special Diet Prescription Form for Meals at School, so that we can provide proper services to your child.

SCHOOL NURSE SERVICES

If your child receives prescribed medication or treatment during the school day, please reach out to your school nurse to update health records and drop of medications. The health and well-being of your child is a top priority. The medication intake sessions are one of a number of back to school programs designed to help students prepare for the new school year and make the start of classes as smooth a process as possible.

We are so excited to welcome our youngest learners to school!

Our teachers are busy planning lessons and making preparations to ensure that your child's first days are a success. The schedule below will help to make sure that everyone eases into the year comfortably.

Pre-k

August 9-12: Testing

August 17: Mandatory Parent Orientation

August 18 & 19: Girls Only

August 22 & 23: Boys Only

August 24: All Students (Girls & Boys)

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

Once again this year City Court Judge C. Britain Sledge, III., and Hammond Mayor Pete Panepinto will sponsore the Back to School Bash for children in this area. They will be provide students with school bags and school supplies with the hope of everyone being ready for the first day of the new school year. The event is scheduled for July 29, 2022, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., at the Hammond Westside Montessori School in their Gymnasium and we are planning for up to 1200 children that day.

SUMMER LEARNING CAMPS

Our Summer Learning Programs were a huge success!

Teachers and students enjoyed their time in our summer learning camps. Students were able to continue their studies in our curriculum, while also expanding their creative energy by participating in hands-on STEM activities.

Tangischools has an Opt-Out policy regarding the use and release of student photographs. Should you wish that your child's photo not be shared on our district and school social media platforms, website, or various digital media outlets, please complete our Photo Opt-Out form and return it to school with your child.
