Week of November 27, 2023

Welcome Back!

I hope you had a relaxing and wonderful Thanksgiving Break with your loved ones!

Can you believe how quickly December is approaching? We have a lot of exciting teaching, learning and events to look forward to in the weeks ahead!

This week our Benchmark testing window begins. Be sure to see below for the benchmark testing schedule.

Additionally, we will have our Area Superintendent, Lisa Riggs and NCUST Coach, Granger Ward, visiting our campus and classrooms this week. Lastly, we will wrap up the week with our monthly Family Read on Friday, 12/1.

Looking forward to a great week!

~ N. Dougherty 😊

Instructional Focus

PLC Focus:

Implement collaborative conversation opportunities during ELA block (guided reading, whole group instruction, independent reading).

Walkthrough Focus

As evidenced by our ILT Walkthrough, there are several key components of Collaborative Conversations taking place (signage, quality indicators) as well as opportunities for student talk across multiple content areas! We are off to a great start and will work toward facilitating deeper thinking and learning for our students.

During my walkthroughs this week, I will continue to focus on Collaborative Conversations, the opportunities for student talk and the quality indicators. The professional development sessions we had just before the break also supported collaborative conversations, particularly with our Multilingual English Learners.
