Ideas for Snow Days

Snow Days ~ Prepare & Enjoy!

Prepare children: It may be difficult to predict when your child will be off for inclement weather. Try to inform your child as soon as possible to prepare them for the change in routine.

Create a "snow day" schedule: Many children  rely on having a consistent schedule and routine. It may be helpful to create a "snow day" schedule. Ideas could include waking up at the same time, serving a similar breakfast and lunch, offering a reading time, and engaging in activities that exert energy (e.g., playing outside or shoveling snow).

Things to do: Arts & Crafts, Read, Clean / Organize Rooms, Watch a Movie, Play Outside, Go to the Mall, Play Board Games, Cook Together, Shovel, Make a Fort, etc.

 Question & Answer: Language Interpreter

According to The Parent's Guide to Special Education in Missouri (January 2018, page 24):

"Q: What if the parents do not speak English?

A: In order to help you understand what is being proposed for your child during the IEP meeting, the school should provide a translator for you if you do not speak English."

If you have other special education questions, please contact MPACT at 800-743-7634 or info@missouriparentsact.org.
