Snow Emergency Declared
Beginning on Wednesday, March 7th at 7:00am
Parking restrictions in effect beginning at 9:00am
In preparation for significant snow accumulation foretasted for our region, the City of Kingston has declared a Snow Emergency beginning on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, starting at 7:00am. Parking restrictions will go into effect at 9:00am. Beginning at 9:00am, vehicles may only be parked on the odd side of the street, which means the side of the street where there are odd house numbers.
On Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 7:00am, vehicles must be moved to the even side of the street, which means the side of the street where there are even house numbers. Vehicles not in compliance with these parking restrictions may be ticketed and towed.
Snow Emergency Routes will be maintained as priorities for plowing throughout the storm. Refuse and recycling are expected to be picked up as scheduled as long as conditions allow.
Citibus services have been suspended for Wednesday, March 7, 2018 beginning at 6:30am.

Changes to Snow Emergency
Please note that the City of Kingston strives to send out alerts regarding snow emergencies and parking restrictions as soon as possible so that individuals and businesses can be best prepared. If in the event the forecast changes and/or it is determined that a snow emergency is no longer necessary, a separate alert with updated information will be sent out.
All vehicles must be parked in allowable locations, including: private driveways or parking lots owned by the vehicle owner or with permission of the owner; municipal lots; or on the appropriate side of the street.
It can be confusing if one side of your street doesn't typically allow parking. However, during snow emergencies, any
pre-existing parking restrictions which designate or prohibit parking on a particular side of the street are temporarily superseded by snow emergency alternate side of the street parking restrictions. Vehicles still may not block driveways or fire hydrants.
While the City offers snow emergency alternate side parking, individuals with access to off-street parking are strongly encouraged to move their vehicles off of the street to allow for the quickest and most effective clearing of snow.
Duration of Snow Emergency
Reminder: All snow emergencies and related parking restrictions are in effect for at least two days, in order for the Department of Public Works to clear both sides of the street. You must adhere to these parking restrictions and move your vehicle, regardless of whether or not the weather has improved or the street looks clear.
