So, here's the thing:

Back in the spring, the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority (HCTDA) hired a new Executive Director, Michelle Owens. Michelle has been working hard these last few months to formalize her vision and to begin instituting changes.

One of those changes was to adjust staffing roles. Julie Hayes, your Outreach Coordinator, has been joined by Melanie Black, whose title has changed to Internal Communications Coordinator. In this internal role, Melanie's area of focus has shifted to communicating with our tourism partners, and how we can help you and the industry. This means there are now two people here who are dedicated to our industry partners -- after all, we wouldn't be here without you!

Another of those changes was to revamp our bi-weekly email, which is where this "thing," this newsletter, comes in to play. We want to look at the industry in a different way, to focus less on events and more on you, our partners. We, Julie and Melanie, have teamed up to curate and distill the information that we think will really be beneficial to you, giving you the option to learn more if you want to. We know your time is precious and fleeting, but we also believe you may benefit from knowing things like major changes in the industry, tips for managing social media, changes going on around the TDA, interesting tourism stories, neat podcasts we're listening to and things along those lines.

We see this regular correspondence (with additional special announcements as necessary) as a way to stay connected with you, to benefit you, to share our love for this industry, and a way to simply have a little fun! We also want this to be a conversation. That means we would love to hear your comments to learn what you think and what sort of info you would like to see in this newsletter by clicking here. Let's stay in touch!

Sending positive vibes and lots of love,

Julie & Melanie

October Tourism After 5

Twisted Apple 1.JPG

Tourism After 5 has returned and this month will be held at Twisted Apple Orchard in Edneyville.

Join us to tour and learn about the venue, network with owners, managers and employees from tourism-related businesses, and meet the Visitor Center's front desk volunteers.

Twisted Apple is Hendersonville's only organic apple orchard that is open to the public. They sell apples, baked goods, fall décor and more. Anyone who benefits from tourism in Henderson County is welcome to attend, so come and bring a friend!

To RSVP for this event, contact Julie Hayes.

Hendersonville Bridal Show

What do you imagine when you think of the perfect WNC wedding? We think of refined-rustic décor, amazing food, a mountain view and you!

The Say "I Do" to Hendersonville Bridal Show takes place this November 6th from 10am-2pm at Blue Ridge Community College. This is a way for us to highlight Henderson County wedding-related businesses to those interested in getting married here. This industry is only growing, helping to bring out of town guests to fill our hotels, restaurants and shops throughout the year.

We know this event will help area businesses and we still have vendor slots left to fill! Outside-the box vendors are welcome to participate. Does your attraction have potential for a bachelorette group? Do you offer a product that could be used for décor or favors? Do embroidery or alternations? Create personalized gift items that could be used for the bridal party? Offer calligraphy or hand-written signage? We think you would be a great fit for this event!

Being a vendor could not be more affordable and you will not find a better return on your investment: the cost is free for Henderson County accommodations, $25 for other Henderson County businesses and $75 for non-Henderson County wedding service businesses.

We will also accept a trade of vendor fee for a gift from your business to be included in the door prize.

With questions or to become a vendor, contact Amy Boswell.
