President's Report

February is off to a fine start and the hot issues this month are the proposed changes to the BC Government’s Land Act and the introduction of Indigenous Protection and Conservation Areas (IPCA) and the apparent self-declaration of IPCAs by local indigenous groups without approval of the BC government.

Executive Director's Report

Is it winter, or is it spring? In the area I live, mother nature doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be.

Some parts of our province are still riding, and others are digging out of the snow. A large amount of our “semi-retired” members are down south enjoying the riding in warmer climates and experiencing the joys of riding on roads and between communities.

Nathan Cullen, Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, has issued the following statement about proposed amendments to the Land Act:

ORV TRAIL GRANT - DUE MAR 4th

REMINDER TO CLUBS

The ORV Trail Fund Grant stream is currently open to applicants until March 4th at NOON.

There has been changes to the fund this years so please make sure to read the FAQ provided to ensure you are completing the application correctly.

OUTDOOR RECREATION COUNCIL

The moment has finally arrived!

ORCBC is excited to announce the upcoming grant intake for the official Outdoor Recreation Fund of BC.

The fund supports grants for community-based initiatives that create and shape meaningful outdoor recreational and nature-based experiences for British Columbians.

It has three priorities which are: (1) outdoor enhancement, (2) education and stewardship, and (3) inclusive participation.

Our friends at the Indigenous Youth Mountain Bike Project and First Journey Trails have released a new film Dirt Relations which will debut opening night,

February 23, 2024 at the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival. Dirt Relations will also be available through VIMFF Online from February 23 to March 24, 2024. Watch the trailer .
