Empowering the Arts ~ Enriching the Community
Notes from the President

Here’s to a Happy New Year!   And all that we can do together to help make that so.
Looking Back:

  • A year of growth, as we climbed to 225 members, and worked with many community organizations.
  • A year of great programs: Village Concert Series, Eleemosynary play, Jazz!, Poetry Fest, Porch Fest, Art Show, Ukulele Fest, Medieval Banquet, author talks, Writers Workshop, Classes and Vacation Kids classes, Arts on Main, Third Thursdays, our Sketches TV show ….. & more.
  • A year of showcasing our many talented members to the town, tourists, and the general area.

Looking Ahead:

  • Much more program(thru June): the Starfish Trail, Gala Fundraiser, concerts, Staged Readings, author talks, Art Show, summer art & music, SandwichFest, …
  • We’re working at being “for artists, by artists”.   We need your ideas, and especially your involvement.

For me,

  • I feel that I keep growing each time I attend one of our events and learn from all of you and experience your art.  While our events are great, so is the time working on them and getting to know so many of you in a deeper way.  Many thanks!

Joanne Westerhouse

Author Talk at Sandwich Library
January 18th
Dr. Robert M. Reece of North Falmouth will be giving a talk at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the Sandwich Library on his books, which combine his medical expertise with fiction.

"To Tell The Truth," available on Amazon, " is a courtroom drama about a baby sitter charged in the case of a head-injured infant.   A review calls it a " haunting expose of the clash between law and medicine, as written by a pediatrician with over 40 years’ clinical and trial experience with shaken baby syndrome.“

"Goodbye Bad Times," which is scheduled to be out by mid-month, " is about Tom Barrett, a trauma surgeon who returns from the Middle East Wars with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He enters a clinical trial for a new drug designed to erase bad memories, but an abrupt change occurs in the patients receiving the drug - and  Tom becomes embroiled in a high stakes investigation to determine the cause.

Dr. Reece is executive editor of The Quarterly Update and a retired clinical professor of pediatrics at the Tufts University School of Medicine.

Admission is free to the public.
