To everyone who makes our circle complete: Thank you.
Our community is a unique and expanding circle of friends bound by the ideal that believing in and educating girls is the most powerful thing we can do to help raise communities out of poverty. We share a commitment to do what we can, and we share the joy of knowing we are making a real difference in the lives of the girls and boys guided by GSGC-sponsored clubs. Our lives are enriched by the connections we make, and our world is more compassionate.
And the proof is in the results:

Volunteers and donors achieved our October fundraising goal and set us on the path to continue growing in 2019. Our board of directors, committee volunteers, and admin force, Wendy Burger, are all spending multiple hours to keep GSGC moving forward. Girls club aunties and boys club mentors are working creatively with GSGC's Program Director, Smokey Dube, to increase their club's reach and impact. Village elders, headmasters, teachers, and parents are asking for additional clubs to help more children succeed. And club members and alumni are working hard and shining more and more brightly - leading the way toward a better future.

I so appreciate everyone who joins our circle. The simple truth is, Global Sojourns Giving Circle would not exist without each of you and the important role you play. Thank you, again and always.


Coming Soon
For GSGC, 2019 is showing great promise. We have been gathering together a team of dedicated volunteers with expertise in key areas, including communications, operations, programming, and project management. As a result, we are becoming more strategic in our approaches to increase our reach and impact - in Southern Africa and across our community.

Priorities for 2019 include:

GSGC Center and Safe Space: Continue developing a dedicated space in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, to serve as a safe space for girls and a communications center for travelers.

Club Development: Train new aunties and develop clubs focused on preteen girls. Launch a new girls club in Cape Town. Continue developing boys clubs.

Programs: Develop programs for senior and alumni girls to provide opportunities following graduation. Increase arts programming. Continue working with aunties and mentors to increase programming impact.

Fundraising: Develop a fundraising strategy to expand our donor circle and funding sources.

Communications: Support fundraising and community development by executing consistent and compelling communications.

Operations: Further develop and strengthen GSGC teams and our board of directors. Develop an Auntie Toolkit. Continue developing standardized practices and improving policies.

"I love November. It's a month that leads us through fallen leaves on crisp days and to think about that for which we are most grateful. Maybe it's the shorter days and colder temperatures, but I love that in November we slow down, we think about the upcoming holidays, our blessings, and those we've lost.
Maybe that's why Giving Tuesday has become so big in America; maybe we desire an opportunity to share our blessings, to support good works, to make a difference. We get to feel good, and so do the people we help.

Many of you have donated to GSGC earlier this year, or just recently during the October campaign. And if you have, thank you, and please consider sharing that with your friends and family - maybe they are looking for a good cause to support on November 27. And if you have not yet donated, I hope Giving Tuesday provides the perfect opportunity."
