A Stitch in Time



The next meeting of the NRPL Knitting Club takes place Friday, February 9, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Join professional knitter Stephanie Lieberman Paley for a drop in knitting class. Stephanie will be here to guide you through your project. All levels welcome. You must bring your own supplies. Drop in.

Computer Classes


Our Saturday computer classes continue this week with Social Media on Saturday, February 10, 10:00 am. Learn more and register here. (Note: If class is full, you may still come to the library to see if any spots are open the day of the program due to cancellations. )

Concert: An Afternoon with Amadi and Mikael


In celebration of Black History Month, NRPL and Young Musicians of Westchester present an afternoon concert with Amadi Azikiwe and Mikael Darmanie on Sunday, February 11, 2:00 pm. The program will include works by composers David Baker, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Jessie Montgomery and Ludwig van Beethoven. Registration requested.

Free Tax Assistance


Trained AARP volunteer Tax Aide Advisors will provide free tax assistance at the Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, through Tuesday, April 11, 2024. The next session is Tuesday, February 13.


First come. First service. No appointments. Learn more here. Libraries throughout Westchester provide tax assistance. If you are unable to come to NRPL on the designated days/hours, you can try another library.

Make a Lotus Flower Lantern


Join us for our next Adult Art Workshop on Wednesday, February 14, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. We'll be making lotus flower lanterns using colored paper and wire frames. (Location: Teen Room)

Jazz Concert: The Ray Blue Ensemble


Experience a mesmerizing evening of jazz performed by The Ray Blue Ensemble on Friday, February 16, 7:00 pm. Ray Blue, a charismatic saxophonist and composer, is a celebrated performer who captures the hearts of minds of his listeners. Registration requested.

NRPL 'True Crime' Film Series: "The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre"


Join us on Saturday, February 17, 12:00 pm for The St. Valentine's Day Massacre. This film provides a straightforward account of the notorious gangland killing and the mob warfare in Chicago of the 1920s, which drew the forces of Al Capone and Bugs Moran to that fateful event. New Rochelle librarian and film historian Chris Poggiali will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion. Registration requested.



Gentle Yoga

What's New at HCL?


Be sure to take advantage of the after school programs at Huguenot Children's Library. On Mondays, 3:30 - 4:30 pm, kids ages 4 -12 can create a different themed art project under the guidance of the talented student's of the New Rochelle HS National Honor Society. Next Monday, February 12, make origami hearts and flowers!


On Tuesdays, 3:30 - 4:30 pm, kids 3 and up can drop in for Game Day. Get your game on with board games ranging from silly to serious, but all guaranteed to be FUN.


Saturday mornings, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, all ages are invited to drop in to have fun building with LEGOS and DUPLOS. And in the afternoons, drop in for Family Fun Saturdays. Check the HCL Calendar for details and times for all programs.

For Tweens Who Love to Read


Join for snacks, an activity, and to chat about Measuring Up by Lily LaMotte and Ann Xu at our next Tween Book Club on Tuesday, February 13, 4:30 pm. Registration required. Register by calling 914-813-3716 or ask at the Desk in the Children’s Room. The first ten registrants will be given a free copy of the book!

February Vacation Fun

Tutor Homework

Homework Help


Elementary students receive FREE assistance with school assignments and reading practice courtesy of Monroe College student tutors. This is a drop-in program and space may be limited. First come, first served. Click here for the Winter/Spring 2024 Homework Help schedule.

NRPL and Girls Inc. are partnering to bring new Saturday programs to the Teen Room. The next program is College and Career Readiness on Saturday, February 17, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Learn more and register here.


Additional College Prep programs, in partnership with Westchester Library System (WLS) College Coach Amy Gonzalez are coming up as well. On Saturday, February 24, 1:00 pm join Amy for College Search Step-by-Step, a workshop designed to help students understand how to identify colleges that are a good fit for their needs and interests. And save the date, Saturday, March 9, 1:00 pm, for College 101 - What You Need to Know and How to Prepare. Learn about letters of recommendations, standardized tests, resumes, financial aid, scholarships and more. (Please click the title of each program to register)

February Break Will Be Here Before You Know It


NRPL is partnering with Westchester Library System (WLS) Career Services to host an in person Teen Resume Writing workshop on Tuesday, February 20, 2:00 - 3:00 pm. Learn more and register. Westchester Library System's popular seminar "Managing Your Career in Changing Times" begins Tuesday, February 27, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. This virtual program provides career strategies for individuals to build self-awareness to clarify your career direction, explore career alternatives, learn about the latest job search trends, including resumes, interviewing and LinkedIn. Facilitated by a Professional Career Coach, this 6 week seminar meets virtually once a week for 90 minutes.

NRPD Citizen Police Academy


Applications for the The New Rochelle Police Department's Citizen Police Academy are now open. The Citizen Police Academy is designed to strengthen the partnership between the New Rochelle Police Department and the community they serve. Citizens of our community will be introduced to the law enforcement and the criminal justice system in this comprehensive 10-week, interactive program, Wednesdays, 6:30 - 9:00 pm, March 13 - May 15. Seeking NY Volunteer Child Advocates


The Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advocate for the rights of unaccompanied immigrant children. Currently, the NY office needs bilingual volunteers to conduct weekly in person visits for one-hour at a facility in NY. The next training is March 3 and 4. Learn more here.
