Celebrating Happy Tails!

Our Happy Tails Celebration & Fundraiser on May 18 at the Music Academy was a big success with $165,000 raised to assist pet families in need! At the same time, we celebrated C.A.R.E.4Paws’ 15-year anniversary.

Guests enjoyed great food, drinks and music in a beautiful setting. We loved the pawsitive energy and can't thank our donors, sponsors, auction package contributors, beverage partners, guests and hard-working volunteers enough for the incredible support.

Every year, C.A.R.E.4Paws assists thousands of pet families in need with critical services. Here are heartfelt happy tails from pet families about how C.A.R.E.4Paws has made an impact in their lives.

Happy Tails in the news!

We love the incredible coverage in Noozhawk, the Independent and Edhat.

Did someone say FREE microchips?

Did you know that 30% more pets are lost between July 4 and July 6 than during any other time of the year?

That's why we offer FREE microchips at ALL of our June Pet Wellness Clinics thanks to sponsorships from Santa Barbara County Animal Services, San Luis Obispo County Animal Services and Lompoc's CAPA.

Together, we’re keeping pets safe and with their people!

Record numbers in May

We are howlin' happy! Our clinic team is helping a record number of pet families again this year. In May alone, we assisted 1,457 pets with vaccines, flea treatment and other preventative care during our walk-in wellness clinics. And, we're on track to spay/neuter more than 3,100 dogs and cats in 2024.

We thank our compassionate staff and volunteers for their hard work, and our incredible donors, sponsors and grantors for helping to make affordable clinic services available to families in need on the Central Coast. It takes a village!

A pawsome partnership

This spring, C.A.R.E.4Paws formed a partnership with Good Samaritan Shelter (“Good Sam”) and DignityMoves, through which C.A.R.E.4Paws provides veterinary care, dog training and other services for pet families that reside in three transitional housing complexes. La Posada in Santa Barbara and Hope Village in Santa Maria were launched by DignityMoves this spring, while Bridge House in Lompoc has existed for years.

We’re excited about the collaboration and the opportunity to increase our support for people and pets experiencing homelessness. This way we help ensure that pet families stay intact as they go through critical life transitions.

Here are just a few of the happy tails inspired by our partnership.

Your pet could be famous!

We still have a few spots left! Don’t miss the unique opportunity to have a photo of your beloved dog or cat featured on the side of our 26-foot mobile veterinary clinic or Ford Transit—or both. Our vehicles travel up and down the Central Coast several days per week, which means your pet’s face will be famous!

Your package includes a professional pet photoshoot (valued at $999) with Images by Valerie.

To learn more and see which spots are still available, reach out to Julia at julia@care4paws.org.

Leave a pawsitive legacy

C.A.R.E.4Paws grows every year as we work to curb pet overpopulation and support pet families in need on the Central Coast. If you want to make a lasting impact on pet family welfare in our community, an estate gift helps ensure that we can continue our mission long into the future.

“I’m including C.A.R.E.4Paws in my estate planning to ensure continued support for this nonprofit, which does incredible work on the Central Coast. C.A.R.E.4Paws fills a gap and a niche that no other group fulfills. Thanks for all that you do in the community to help animals and their families.”

Compassion counts! 💙

A big shoutout to the animal-loving students at La Patera Elementary School in Goleta. As part of a math class on money, they facilitated a coin drive that raised $791 to help C.A.R.E.4Paws. We are so grateful for the amazing support!

Wow! For three years in a row, volunteer Ava Vasquez has coordinated a weeklong pet food drive at her former school, Santa Barbara's Vieja Valley Elementary. This year, Ava raised 1,220lbs of food with help of the school's student council as well as former student Luccia. This an increase from 800lbs in 2023! We are so grateful to Ava and the students, parents and teachers at Vieja Valley for the wonderful support for pet families in need. Once again, she did an amazing job!

Special thanks to two amazing partners: Rincon Brewery and celebrated artist Liz Brady. Rincon sponsors the beer for our annual Happy Tails event and Liz donates a beautiful painting to the silent auction every year. This year, Rincon incorporated Liz's art into the design of the cans we served at the May 18 event, and it looks fantastic. Thank you all for your support and creativity!

More happy tails! 🧡
