We would like to take this opportunity to give a heartfelt thanks
to all of our wonderful
Crisis Line V olunteers
who generously give their time to answer those calls on weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

You are making a difference in our community every single day, and we could NOT do our work without you. Thank you.

WOW and thank you, UAA Journalism & Public Communications Team
Last fall, three UAA Journalism and Public Communications students were assigned a project for their Planning and Writing for Strategic Communications class, and chose to work with STAR. On January 7, Jason and Jennifer came to STAR to share a mood board and a digital presentation for Staff. Their project included proposed new colors, refreshed brand elements, messaging and digital marketing ideas. They are scheduled to present to our board of directors later this month, so be on the lookout in the future as we roll out some updates to the STAR brand. All of us were very impressed with Jason, Jennifer and Gina's work, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in the marketing world moving forward!

Save the Date for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes ® : April 25!

Why men in women’s high-heeled shoes?

We ask men to walk in women's high-heeled shoes to actively confront gender stereotypes and expectations. In this space of playful competition and openness, it's possible to reveal and consider many of the underlying causes of men's sexualized violence with less defensiveness and denial. So start talking about it, create a buzz, gather your buddies and join us. Registration for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes ® will open on staralaska.com on February 1.
